I took a group of 6 couples to stay on a Sunday. Everything was perfect. Each room is different, they are all charming, comfortable, warm, cozy and elegant. The staff, from those who work in the offices, those who help with the suitcases, the servers, the cooks, the managers on duty, everyone knows their work and above all, they all are ready to help and make us feel the best. The food is spectacular, they have a wonderful variety of entrees and desserts. Even the picky eaters enjoyed the food here. Do not miss the eggs benedict at breakfast. In the afternoon we performed fantastic activities such as feeding the llamas, touring the property, learning about bullfighting, milking the cows and simply relaxing in the warmth of the fireplace. In May I’m taking a new group and I cannot wait to see my passengers enjoying every minute at this wonderful hacienda.

I WAS a huge fan of this place until my last visit. I am a breakfast person - I’ve been to the Biltmore and Four Seasons for their breakfast - which are over 200$ pp and although this breakfast is about 40$ pp, the price is now over inflated for what they serve. Fruits are cheap in Ecuador and in my opinion they should offer more of a variety since it’s so readily available. Also, make sure to double check your bill - they over charged my aunt when she went there (the day after I went) and wanted to give her a credit instead of reimbursing her credit card. Reply to the owner’ response: You very well did NOT ‘immediately refund’ the card you actually made them go back to the venue the next to complete the refund - Which I think is absurd…I know this because your staff called me by mistake instead of my aunt.

very beautiful and historic hacienda with masonry from the Inca period. A truly unique place in the middle of lush green meadows. The Hacienda St. Augustin has a wonderful garden and very cozy rooms in a traditional style. The staff is very friendly and serves us courteous. It feels like home here and has the opportunity to enjoy the food in the historic Inca walls. The apetizers were served in the living room and tasted delicious. If you are looking for something unique and genuine, combined with attentive service, you will not miss anything at the Hacienda St. Augustin, a unique experience. Helmuth Zimmermann, Switzerland

Our room was amazing, we had a private lounge, bedroom and bathroom and each room had a fireplace/woodburner, it was like a mini house.|As the temperature drops at night, a member of staff keeps the fires lit and pops a hot water bottle into your bed at night.|We had dinner in the Inca dinning room, which is stunning. Breakfast is in a separate room which is lovely too.|Food was very good and we had a couple of bottles of Ecuadorian red wine with our meals which was reasonably priced. |On our last morning we did an art class with Paul in the Inca chapel, this lasted around two hours and we have two lovely paintings now to remind us of our stay.|We had a private guide with us but the hotel can organise excursions if you don't and from here we visited Cotapaxi national park, Lake Quilotoa, the local markets and a rose farm.|There is a view of Cotapaxi from the property which is especially nice in the early evening light if the clouds stay away.|We were also able to try our hand at milking cows, feeding the Llamas and had a full tour of the property to learn about its history.|The Hacienda has a resident dog, Lady Gaga who is very friendly and a more aloof cat called Greta Garbo.|But like most of our experiences in Ecuador, it was the staff that made our stay special, in particular Brenda made sure that we were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. I shall always remember our stay here with very fond memories, this is a very...

Overall, I think this place is still trying to figure out what it wants to offer. They should not advertise unestablished activities.. and they should not leave their guests upon arrival! I made a reservation for 4 people, after reading that the Hacienda would have numerous activities like a guided tour, bike rides, fishing, walks, etc. etc. When we arrived, we did not see any signs of where to check in, so we wandered into the office and were greeted by the owner, who kindly introduced herself and said she would get us situated. That wouldve been great! However, 5 seconds later, the owner was approached by another guest- an embassador visiting Ecuador. She literally abandoned us without even pardoning herself. We waited for about 20 minutes without any further welcome. I approached another employee and asked if he could help us because the other lady had left us. He said he would help, but turned away. We were overall super confused with the offerings, where we were suppossed to go, and even where the bathroom was. However, the scenery was very pretty, they gave us a glass of canelazo, and they had a "llama show" in which about 20 llamas came into the main area so we could feed them carrots. That made the experience worth the...

This is a jewel set in the Ecuadorian countryside. If you like to be surrounded by history, this is your place. It was built on the site of an Inca palace. Walls of an Inca chapel remain and the dining room features smoke-blackened Inca walls. A former president of Ecuador once owned the hacienda and it remains in the family, currently owned by his granddaughter, whose father was an amateur bullfighter. There is an actual practice bull fighting ring on the premise. The hacienda is beautifully landscaped and the rooms we stayed in were exquisite- with comfortable beds, fireplaces, and hand-painted walls. ( My bathroom had chubby naked mermaids.) The hacienda staff is happy to arrange excursions. We visited is Cotopaxi national park ( and the famous volcano.. where warm clothes and breathe), Lago del Quilotac, a lake set in a crater of an extinct volcano, and a rose farm. For those less adventurous, you can milk cows, ride bikes, and feed the llamas on the premise. Or maybe curl up next to Lady Gaga, the sweet young puppy on the farm, in the library next...
