Farm Hotel Magic Paradise — Hotel in Nueva Loja

This place was great! Very unique place to stay and very convenient if you are heading to one of the lodges in the rainforest. The restaurant on site had very good/affordable food and the staff was so welcoming. During our stay we spent some time speaking with Washington the owner and he was so welcoming. He does alot of work conservation and rehabilitation of animals which was nice to see. The hotel has a small zoo area in the back of the property and also a river where you can kayak and canoe . I highly recommend this hotel the area was very safe and we felt right at home. I also wanted to note that contrary to the US embassies travel warning for this area we never once felt in danger in Lago Agrio. When i booked this trip i was very nervous because of everything i saw online however just like any city in the world if you use basic common sense you will be fine. We are a white family, that speaks no Spanish, driving a rental car and other than some curious looks we had no issues in the town. Just like any other city if you want trouble you can find it. Ecuador is having some issues right now but it is primarily gang on gang crime in certain areas. People make it sound like if you come to Ecuador you will be robbed, kidnapped, murdered,etc not true. We loved magic paradise and its staff! The facilities were clean and unique, with a farm you can walk around and a lot of lovely land(we stayed in the matrimonial glamping cabin), the food was affordably priced and very good, and we even swam in their pool! While it was very hot when we visited the room had reliable air conditioning which made the room very comfortable. Washington is so accommodating and friendly and we so enjoyed speaking to him. While we were worried about transportation around, he personally eased all of our worry booking us a personal car with less than 12 hour notice at night for early the next morning. I also enjoyed the beach which is a short walk from the hotel outside the Lago Agrio proper city and had a fun bar with music. The bonus of this stay is that it’s the stopping point for many of the Cuyabeno Amazon tours, and Washington makes it really easy to book one of these or can even help you design a different personalized tour or Amazon experience elsewhere. We stayed a day and a night in Magic Paradise in November 2025. It was amazing, the place is very nice and Washington, the host, really went out of his way to make our short stay super pleasant. They can organize everything you need for you. If you have a motorcycle license, you can even rent a quad to get around town, which I can highly recommend, unless you don't know how to operate the breaks. Moreover, Washington was a jungle guide in the past, he has a lot of experience, and gave us lots of useful tips for our Cuyabeno adventure. Full recommendation!
