Hotel Twin Galapagos — Hotel in Parroquia Bella Vista

I had high hopes for the Twin Lodge due to all of the rave reviews here on Trip Advisor. What a disappointment! The ratings are completely off on this one. While the property is pretty and well landscaped and the room acceptable, I cannot recommend this place. I would have left after 1 day if I hadn't paid for the entire 8 nights in advance.||||Here are the problems:||1. The owner leaves the property in the hands of a 21 year old kid who serves as the cook, maintenance man, and manager. Although this kid tries, this job is way to big for him. ||||2. Eating a meal here other than breakfast (which is basic but OK if the bread isn't stale) is problematic. Usually no lights are on in the kitchen and the dining room is mostly empty and dark at night, After noticing that no one was in the kitchen and waiting a half hour the first day for a meal that I ordered several hours earlier, I gave up and asked for fruit for dinner or ate in town. You know the old saying, if nothing is cooking in the kitchen, nothing is cooking! You need to add $10 @ day to your hotel costs because the hotel is 15 minutes from town and you basically have to go into town in order to eat.||||3. When I asked for a receipt for a tour I booked, I was told they don't give them. After an unpleasant conversation with the owner about how unprofessional it is to take my money and not give me a receipt and he finally gave me one.||||4. They seemed to have misplaced my key and then it turned out that my room was unlocked. So someone had been in there. I had been in the room since it had been cleaned earlier that day and locked the room. When I confronted the manager on this and told him that I didn't like the fact that my room was unlocked he said, it was safe and not to worry about it. Fortunately, nothing seemed amiss but it still created a complete lack of trust.||||5. On the afternoon I returned from a tour booked by the hotel, the first thing the kid in charge said to me was not, "How was it? Did you enjoy the tour?" but " You need to pay $160 for Friday's tour". ||||6. Although they say they take credit cards, there is always an excuse not to take them. On the last day, it was “the machine was broken”. Although it appeared that it was because the owner didn’t want to come by to do the transaction.||||One day there was no water in the room. I asked for a taxi at a certain time to get to town for a tour and it was 20 minutes late. The wifi was iffy.||||All in all, this was not a pleasant hotel experience. Do yourself a favor. Stay...

We had a truly memorable stay at Hotel Twin Galápagos in Puerto Ayora. From the moment we arrived, the family running the place made us feel incredibly welcome—everyone was warm, helpful, and genuinely cared about our comfort.

The setting is peaceful and surrounded by lush greenery, making it a perfect retreat from the busy downtown area. We especially loved the suite with two separate rooms—it was ideal for our family, offering both comfort and space. We actually loved it so much that we returned to the same hotel after visiting another island!

Our room had lovely garden views, and the swimming pool just outside added a relaxing touch. Everything was clean and thoughtfully arranged, with details like wooden headboards, fresh towels, and a desk for those who might need to catch up on work.

Breakfast was basic but good—fresh fruit, pastries, and juice served on a tray, often enjoyed on the terrace. After traveling around the Galápagos, we realized that this is actually a typical breakfast style in the region, and we appreciated the consistency and freshness.

Despite what one reviewer mentioned, it is not isolated—it’s about 15 minutes by taxi (around 5 USD) from the main town. For us, that was part of the charm: it’s quiet, surrounded by nature, and free from traffic and noise—unlike downtown, which can be quite loud and hectic.

A special thanks to Jose, who gave us excellent advice on tours and helped with bookings. Also, his daughter is exceptionally knowledgeable about wildlife and tours—she gave us great tips and even helped us get better deals on some excursions.

And heartfelt appreciation to the lovely family who went above and beyond, especially when our little one wasn’t feeling well—they truly treated us like one of their own.

Por donde empezar!? ||Antes que nada quiero agradecer enormemente a los dueños del Lodge; Esperanza y su marido nos recibieron con mucho amor y calidez dignos de destacar. ||Todos los días te sirven el desayuno hecho por ellos mismos y con productos de su propia huerta, panes caseros y jugos recién hechos! ||El Lodge es grande y amplio, con contacto pleno con la naturaleza, las habitaciones cuentan con mucho espacio! No hay necesidad de aire acondicionado ya que el Lodge está ubicado en la montaña y es un lugar muy fresco.||En cuanto a su ubicación, es un poco incomoda para ir al centro: puerto ayora, pero se puede movilizar con la guagua (sale unos 0.5 USD) o en taxi (unos 7 USD) o bien en bicicleta y volver en taxi ya que el camino es en subida hasta el hotel (son camionetas Hilux blancas).||Cerquita del Lodge hay un túnel de lava, se puede recorrer, sale 2 usd la entrada y es un paseo entretenido, el trayecto son unos 900 mts en oscuridad (LLEVAR LINTERNAS) y con piedras y un poco húmedo, pero es interesante.||También están muy cerca, los ranchos, donde se puede ir a ver a las tortugas gigantes en su forma mas libre, la entrada es libre y el paseo en taxi sale cerca de unos 40 usd.||||Para cenar y almorzar hay infinidad de lugares, aunque algunos son caros.||Hay una especie de feria gastronómica muy económica cerca del centro, donde se puede comer diferentes pescados, y platos nacionales gastando mas o menos 15 dolares por persona por toda la cena y bebida.||En el puerto hay una vista magnifica de la zona y se puede disfrutar de los lobos marinos y de la fauna marina ya que en mi poca estadía (solo estuve 4 días) logré ver: tiburones, mantarayas, tortugas marinas,y muchos peces. ||Vale recordar que la isla Santa cruz es la que mas tiburones tiene en sus aguas. ||En la estadia en Santa Cruz visitamos el centro de interpretaciones Darwin, del que se puede acceder caminando desde el centro y pasando por la playa "la estación" que se puede disfrutar! aunque es muy pequeña.||Cada una de las playas es de arena bastante blanca y de piedras volcánicas (negras) que dan un paisaje de lujo! ||en el centro, el recorrido es gratuito, se puede dejar una colaboración para ayudar a los biólogos a la manutención del parque. ||||También paseamos por playa tortuga, que es para mi, una de las mejores playas que vi, de arena blanca y mar increíblemente turquesa con el agregado especial de iguanas marinas negras y lobos marinos en la playa! Lo que si, para llegar hay que caminas 2.5 km de un camino abajo del rayo del sol, rodeado por cactus, pinzones y lagartijas.||En esta playa esta prohibido casi todo!!! tener en cuenta que no se puede dejar ningún tipo de residuo (VALE QUE HAY QUE RESPETAR EL PARAÍSO EN EL QUE ESTAMOS Y TENER MUY PRESENTE QUE ES UNA RESERVA INCREÍBLE!)||A la entrada hay un cartel con lo permitido y no permitido en la playa. ||Recorran toda la playa, ya que al final, hay una curva y la misma sigue en un lugar sin olas y con manglares! ||||Ademas del registro de entrada que se debe llenar en casi todas las atracciones de la isla. ||A la salida de la playa, a unas pocas cuadras y un poco escondido está la laguna de las ninfas, un pequeño recorrido escondido de completa tranquilidad.||||Tomando un taxibote desde el puerto, se puede acceder a la playa de los alemanes (para mi gusto no es una playa linda) y desde allí a las grietas: un cruce de agua salobre de 20 mts de profundidad de agua increíblemente cristalina y FRÍA! rodeada de acantilados... muy increíble atracción! Vale la pena ir, pero al horario del mediodia, ya que cuando pasa la hora, el sol deja de iluminar el agua y la imagen no es tan increíble, pero aun así, si te sumerges si lo es! ||||Ademas de pasear y disfrutar de los "Happy HOUR" de los locales es un lugar donde el contacto con la naturaleza se da a cada instante!||en el centro, hay iguanas marinas paseando y disfrutando del sol! ||||Mi viaje por galapagos fue corto, solo visité Santa Cruz. ||Nota que saber: el aeropuerto no está sobre la isla, sino esta en otra isla llamada Baltra, separada de Santa cruz, para llegar al puerto es necesario tomar un bus a la salida del aeropuerto que te lleva hasta el canal y ahí coger un catamaran que te cruza a la isla (valor: 1 usd por persona) del otro extremo del canal se puede tomar un bus hasta el puerto (valor 2 usd) o bien un taxi, que muchas veces es compartido (15 usd)||yo no lo sabia y la verdad me mareo un poco todo ese viaje hasta llegar al puerto. ||se demora cerca de 40-60 minutos en todo eso! tenerlo presente a la hora de volver al aeropuerto!||||Espero que les sirva la info! ||||AAAH! al ingresar a galapagos se debe pagar un impuesto del parque 50usd. y las valijas deben ser chequeadas antes de tomar el vuelo a galapagos (yo fui desde quito) y sale 20 usd el...
