Quite new and very clean and well taken care of. Wi-Fi is only available in a small area near the street, in front of Hostal where they have a nice, outdoor sitting area. They have a lot of hammocks in shaded areas. The Wi-Fi worked good, with good speeds. Wi-Fi availability in the rooms would have been a nice addition. Located within easy walking distance to the beach, only about 30 yards. Bathrooms are somewhat small but are clean. Music from the beach kept me up until it was turned off about 11 p.m. I recommend bringing some ear plugs --just in case. The thing that irked me the most though, was the VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! We did not make reservations in advance. When we arrived, my wife who is Latina and who speaks Spanish asked for a quote per night; we had a fairly large group with us and we required a total of 3 different rooms. My wife was quoted $60 per night per room by one of the employees. But, when we went to check in, the lady manager of Isramar told us it would be $70 per night, per room, likely due to there were some blond-haired people with us --and the first employee only spoke with my wife and she didn't see the rest of the members of the group. We paid cash. I recommend paying for the stay as soon as you get a quote --if being quoted to a non-Caucasian person in your group. Otherwise, the price may go up depending on the color of your hair and/or skin. Either employees at Isramar are fully empowered to quote prices or they are not? The employee girl did apologize profusely about the price of the stay going up. Another complaint we had is we brought some takeout food from a different restaurant for our children. When we asked for a fork, they would not let us use a fork from their restaurant because the takeout food was not purchased from Isramar. Customer Service was non-existent, but it was such a nice-looking place, we decided to stay there even through the price quote went up when checking in. We stayed for a total of 1 night, a few days after Christmas 2014. The beach was very nice and the water warm. The waves were big enough to surf yet you can go way out, maybe about 75 feet from the shore before the water depth gets up to the shoulders...
Read moreWe have stayed in several places while travelling through Ecuador but the most relaxing stay has been at the "Rasimar Hosteria" in the little town of Olon. Doris (the owner) was most welcoming and friendly. Her Hosteria, is clean, well situated (steps from the beach) and relaxing (away from noise, hustle and bustle). The rooms are comfortable (a steal at $20.00 each for a single room) and the garden is lush with tropical plants, hammocks and plenty of seating. Although the room cost doesn't include breakfast you can ask for it in advance. (Coffee, juice, eggs, & croissants, $5.00 US) Wifi can only be had in the garden area and there is a cheap laundry facility just around the corner.|We have come back twice now to stay a few days and would recommend this place to anyone travelling through the Santa Elena canton. Although I have not stayed anywhere else in Olon I have surmised that this is one of the best places to stay in Olon, if not the...
