This place it a surprise from the start. First off the drive over the old metal bridge into the town takes you back 50 years and makes you wonder "what the Hell have I gotten myself into" Then when you pull up the driveway you think you have come to the reception area to find it abandon and dilapidated, so you think I have got the wrong location. If it wasn't for the staff trimming the hedges and blowing off the road we probably would have ran at that point. Instead we pushed on up the hill against the one way arrow to find there new reception office and smiling people inside. The new office is clean and white and quite the contrast to that which you see turning in. After a simple check in, they walk you to your room. At this point you can hear the water fall but cant see it; and then you descend into something that resembles a sitting from Disney's "The Jungle Book." It is adorable! It had to have been designed by a theme park or stage set designer. I would say if you have kids and want to take them to a really cool fun place than this is it. It is not a Disney resort by any means, and the architecture is not geared for tall people but it is a very cute place and fits in very well with the water fall. Now for some tips. Room 23 does have an odor in the bathroom and other guests have complained about it. Its not a terrible odor, but I think its from the nesting swallows on the sides of the buildings. Also if your over 6'- 2" bring this up during your reservation. Room 23 is not for you. As far as the food. It was very good and the coconut shrimp was the best I had in all of Ecuador. The staff was very accommodating and even agreed to serve us breakfast early so we would have time to get to San Domingo in time for our Covid tests for fling back to US. Recommendations! Ask as many questions up front. This property is unique, as a result, it may have some challenges, but overall a wonderful relaxing setting. I hope to return in the...

Read moreIt was very picturesque and the staff was very accomodating! We had a delicious breakfast and they made my coffee just the way I like it upon my request (very strong) That said, the place, in general, is in need up upkeep. The days were cool when we visited (December)but I believe that is the exception. We had the staff show us several rooms because the first ones smelled quite damp and moldy. We finally got a room (I think it was #21) which had no AC but had the windows open, a strong fan and plenty of fresh air. This made our stay very pleasant. The people who got the moldy smelling room we saw at first were not so happy. They had a hard time...
