We stayed at Hostal Dinos for one night in March - arriving very late by transfer driver from Cotacatchi. We had a few issues translating with the driver about holding onto our luggage whilst we hiked the loop - as had been arranged and the owners and guests at Hostal Dinos could not have been more helpful in translating between us to sort it out - as well as helping out how best to deal with all the recent landslides - really nice people.||||The room was clean, tidy and plenty of blankets for warmth ( Ecuador doesn't have much in the way of central heating which is fine during the day - but can be chilly at night when so high up! ). They served up a great breakfast and Cleo, the owner, even drove us the 5 mins to the start of the loop so we didn't head off the wrong way - a lovely man and a great start to what was a memorable 5 days hiking in Ecuador. For the price, can't be beaten - we were considering forking out for the more expensive San Jose up the road ( being early 40's and less backpacker style these days! ) and were pleased with our decision to stay...
Read moreWe stayed here for a night before heading off on our 4 days hike to quilotoa. We arrived rather late and the entrance of the hostel was a bit hard to find but it was definitely worth the search! Cleo and his wife vivianne who own the hostal are lovely! We arrived from a 5hrs journey from quito and were absolutely tired and hungry. As it was late already vivianne suggested to cook us dinner which we really appreciated! It was soo delicious and exactly what we needed after a day of transportations. The rooms were big and it had enough blankets! We are cold all the time so it came in quite handy! The shower was probably one of the best showers we had, hot and powerful! ||The next morning we got surprised with the largets breakfast we had so far in south america! It was super delicious and the perfect start of the first day of hiking. Cleo drove us to the start of the trek and gave us advice in order to find the right way! ||||All in all, we couldnt recommend this hostel more! If youre looking for a place to stay before your hike, this is the...
Read moreWe were starting the Quilotoa Loop trek from Sigchos, but the only bus we could take from Latacunga arrived later in the afternoon so we decided to stay one night in Sigchos and hike first thing the following morning. We walked into Hostal Dinos (on the corner a couple blocks from the central market square) without a reservation and got a room without a problem. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. There is a restaurant on the first floor, which was very convenient because Sigchos is a very small town with limited options. But the best part of this hostel is the owner. I am upset that I can not remember his name, but he was very accommodating and helpful in every way. We were staying here the night the latest twin earthquakes hit Ecuador and he immediately came to check on us to see if we were okay. He and his wife made us tea and the four of us stayed up watching the news until we all felt safe to go back to sleep. He even offered to drive us to the trail head and view point above town the next day! Thank you...
