Hello folks

I am doing a long trip in latin America and during my time in Ecuador, i wanted to visit a cacao farm since the country is famous for its agriculture.

On 12th of june 2023 , i decided to visit the farm Cacao&mango managed by Ninfa Lara and her family, located around one hour from Guayaquil.

Ninfa's brother showed me the different species composing the farm , and explained to me the process of cacao transformation.

You are able to make you personalized chocolate bar and some hot chocolate.

I received a typical Ecuadorian three course lunch (composition depend of the period of the year) . I received shrimps and a delicious mousse.

Finally i stayed there for more than 4h. It was very complete, and the people were very friendly. Since the cacao production is a all year process, you are sure to meet cacao fruits (which is no the case for mangos).

To recommend !

Plan ahead...

We found Hacienda Cacao y Mango by chance while looking for a place to stay between Cuenca and the coast, and we’re so glad we did! It’s a small, family-run spot with a really friendly vibe. We stayed for one night, had a chocolate tour and all meals included. Our guide, Jamil, was amazing - he explained the whole tree-to-bar process and the chocolate tasting was a real treat. The food was fantastic too, with meals made from local ingredients that were full of flavor. We even tried coffee from their own plants, which was great. The accommodation is simple but comfortable, and the place felt like a peaceful oasis, surrounded by nature - birds, tropical plants, and quiet. We enjoyed chatting with the family and learning about life in Ecuador and sustainable farming. We’re so happy we found this place and had the chance to stay here. Many thanks, Hacienda...

My family just came back from a wonderful experience at Hacienda Cacao y Mango, with Jamil and his family. The hacienda is in a beautiful location, only 50 minutes from Guayaquil, a family business of three generations. Jamil is incredibly knowledgeable and explains wonderfully about the whole process of “from tree to bar.” Our children were amazed with the information, demonstrations, from picking the cacao from the tree, to toasting, grinding, tasting and making our own chocolate bars. The amount of information Jamil offered us was wonderful and unforgettable. This was followed by a delicious four course lunch, with fresh and organic ingredients from the farm. Absolutely amazing food. This was an incredible experience that our family will remember forever and that changed the way we see and consume chocolate. Thank you Jamil...

It is more than a cocoa farm tour! In this farm you can experience all the processing steps from the cocoa flower to the final chocolate bar! It is really interesting knowing what's the artisanal-original way of chocolate production, not only by explaining it, but by showing you directly picking a cocoa fruit, tosting seeds and grind them till tasting the cocoa paste producted! Furthermore, during the plantation tour, our guide Jamil shown the comprensive crops of its farm as coffee, rice, fruits. To conclude this amazing experience a really good organic lunch will be served! Many thanks to Jamil and his family for showing us their world in an enthusiastic and authentic way!

This place is absolutely a must to do while in Guayaquil. The tour guide spoke perfect English. The entire staff were friendly and informative. We got to make hot chocolate and chocolate bars from scratch. We were toured around the farm and got to see how the cacao were processed from seedling to chocolate bars. The view of the mountain from the rice farm was like a movie set. At the end, we could buy the bars that were already made for $5 each. They accept major credit cards which made it convenient. Great place for family and young kids to learn about chocolates and cacao groves.
