During our trip of Ecuador we stayed at El Rampiral for 3 nights. We were shown our room that was right on the beach - not more than 10 meters from the water. The sound of waves was awesome! However, being so close to the beach left us feeling very vulnerable to a break-in / theft as we were the only guests. We had several nervous nights there, but thankfully needlessly. (When discussing this later in the trip with other residents, we were told that we indeed should have been nervous and were lucky to not have been robbed, yikes!)||||We had heard such great things about the pizza, but wasn't able to get one on any of the 3 nights that we were there. They did serve food for us one night, and it was pretty good. Otherwise, we felt trapped at the resort as they did not recommend us walking anywhere into town at night and the taxi drivers were in a meeting and unable to take us anywhere (this is what we could translate)||||I know that Ecuador is a Spanish speaking country, but after viewing a website in English, and corresponding with the hotel in English for our reservation, I was a bit surprised that we did not encounter one person who could say 3 words in English. We figured everything out, but it was interesting when the front desk wanted to charge me significantly more per night that was previously agreed to (Luckily I had brought along the printed email with the rate documented.)||||The rooms were more basic than I anticipated and were quite sweltering when the breeze swelled. The beach was amazing though! During the morning one could walk along it, play in the waves, and collect shells. Without little kids, it would probably be a 10 minute relaxing walk to town.||||Overall, you can probably find a nicer place to stay, but the proximity to the beach is going to be hard to beat. This place could be so...
Read morearrived on August 25th from Quito to spend my birthday, before had a slight problem with the website i used to book, however when calling the receptionist at the hotel (beatriz) her attitude on the telephone was so rude, ignorant and my wife spoke to her as she didn't even care. Arrived at the hotel and the same woman still had the same attitude, monotone, unmotivated and unwelcoming. We spent three days at the hotel, the manager Fernando is very welcoming and actually apologised to me on behalf of the attitude of Beatriz the receptionist, the cleaning and catering staff were good and helpful, the hotel has an excellent location to the beach and with just a few minutes walk to Casablanca's where you can find family run restaurants on the beach who are friendly and welcoming, listening to the waves in the morning was peaceful, The food in the hotel itself was very expensive for what it was and the pizzas are only served weekends, as during the week the hotel is dead. upon leaving the hotel AGAIN the receptionist had such a bad attitude, honestly i don't know why she is working there, unfortunately this reflects the hotel and she is not experienced to handle customer services which on top tried to charge me using a credit card which i did not have! Fernando she needs to be sacked! all in all i went for my birthday and felt it was ruined by this woman's...
Read moreI usually don't write reviews but we had such a great time, I really wanted to share it today. From the moment we arrived it felt like pure vacation. The facilities as well as the cabines are very clean and nice. The food is excellent, starting with American and Ecuadorian breakfast up till fresh seafood and home made pizza from their own oven, there wasn't a single dish I could complain about. ||||Alhough, the pool was very clean and maintained, the closeness to the beach (literally 5meters from the cabines to the beginning of the beach) we mainly enjoyed ourselves in the sea and the almost empty beach. ||||The staff was very professional and discret (something that the hotel industry in Ecuador is often lacking). Jaime, the manager was very very nice and helped us with everything we asked for. ||||When visiting Esmeraldas, Same and the Rampiral are an excellent choice to relax and enjoy your vacation.||||Thank you again Jaime!||||We'll...
