Before arriving at this place, I have read other people's reviews and they have reported that the price was $10p/p recently. When the boy at this hostel told me the price is $12, I asked him when and why they raised the price. He started talking about the tax raise by 2% in Ecuador and that everything is more expensive. I asked him 2% increase of $10 would be $10.20 and that increasing the price by $2 is too much. He started making excuses by talking about high prices in products that are unrelated and has nothing to do with the cost of me staying at the hostel. He also started making up fake information that the other 2 hostels on the same street now charge $15p/p, and hostels in Quilotoa charges $25 or more (which is again not accurate nor related to the pricing in Zumbahua) and that this hostel's pricing is fair. I checked the other hostel on the same street, they offered a room for $10 and they told me that they have been offering that same price for a while.
