I was an all inclusive guest at the Golden Beach Resort from July 7 to July 12.||I travelled alone as a woman.||The bedroom was stunning, climatized and had a sweet little balcony overlooking the family pool with a drying rack! Smart!||The cleaning staff were meticulous and friendly and the amenities they provided daily of coffee, tea and water in the room were such a thoughtful gesture.||The entire resort was breathtaking and well kept. Such beautiful gardens and biodiversity of flora. I spent hours studying the different plants and trees with their sweet name tags and desriptions. Lovely touch.||The beach was clean, unfortunately some garbage had gotten into the shallow areas which put me off from swimming.||The restaurants are very diverse and tailored to their particular themes- italian, oriental, beer garden. Very nice. |The hot food at the main restaurant buffet lacked quality and creativity, however the cold buffet and bread selection was mind blowing. As a pescetarian i was hoping for more veggie and fish dishes., unfortunately the same fried fish from my first lunch was recycled into several meals for a few days during my stay. Bring your own salt too. The sachets of salt they provide are rock hard and can break some teeth!||I do not recommend grease restaurant. I was told to go and eat at the main restaurant the first time i went there. The second time i was told to order with the waiter, then he told me to order with the chef and so on on and so forth until i got fed up and left. The third time round the waiter was busy watching football on his phone which he then put on the main screen tv and proceeded to watch whilst several guests were asking me how to order, whether or not they can drink the (warm) soft drinks on the counters etc. It is not at all clear whether this bar is self service or if you are waited on. The staff and chefs are incredibly rude with the exception of chef Mohammed (with eye glasses)and i reported this to the night manager who then spoke directly to the staff in my company. Unfortunately the staff just became frustrated and angry with me after this and ignored me on my future visits. Very sad that this restaurant brings down my rating and opinion of the hotel as i was so well received and taken care of everywhere else. Hence 4stars not 5stars.||It can be quite unnerving travelling alone as a woman, however all the staff with the exception of grease restaurant were incredible and attentive and made sure i never felt alone with their great banter and also all of the entertainment and activities provided by the animation team. Great shows in the theatre and great beach parties and entertainment.||I would like to extend sincere thanks to Beth from animation team for keeping me posted on all of the events, taking the time to know me and my needs and also sharing great tips and advice with me. Thank you Beth for such a memorable stay! Im coming back to see you soon!!||I would also like to thank the beach bar team for the most incredible and beautiful cocktails and outstanding service, especially Mostafa and Sameh. Also thanks to the beach recreation team for tending to my comfort while sunbathing and having a good laugh. Lovely crew at the beach. Spent alot of time there! Camel rides are great fun on the beach too.||The adult pool was delightful and cool and the recreation and barkeeper Ahmed and Ahmed were lovely and assiduos. My drink was never empty and i never got sunburned with Ahmeds advice!||Hat off to Gomaa as well for keeping up great spirit with the guests and for killer cocktails!||All in all it was such a lovely, relaxing and pleasant stay. I highly recommend the Golden Beach Resort. I know ill be back.||Advice:|Tip the team always and never ever tip in foreign coins, its about as useful to these guys as titts on a fish.||Get your visa via travelling agency. The queue for airport visa is...
Read moreReal three star hotel with potential of five stars.
This resort is in the Norden part of Hurghada and has several advantages which recommend it for a nice out of summer vacation: heated pools (however, just until end of March) In total there are 5 pools and an aqua park with 12 slides for all the types of kids and adults in the search for some adrenaline Nice wide beach to the Red Sea. Even if there is a big flux/reflux (as normal in these parts), there is still plenty of room to play, search for fish or other sea creatures, and even for swim The room we stayed in was very close to the see and kids pool, relatively newly remade, sufficiently big, with a nice view from balcony (second floor). The hot water was coming very fast and with nice pressure. We had a nice TV and another sofa, being a family with a 6 years old boy Nice cleaning and serving personell but everyone at every little help was suggesting directly or indirectly some bacșiș (tip). Up to 50 euro per family/week is gone in this direction. Every day they gave us one bottle of water per person which we could refill anytime from the entire resort water dispensers (the normal tap water is not recommended to be drinker) A main restaurant with self-service all inclusive food and drinks, and four smaller ones with appointments in the evening for "a la carte" serving italian/arrabic/fish specialities We were feeling safe everywhere so Egypt evolved a lot in this direction in the last years.
Beside these positive points there are several other aspects to be improved: They have more than 500 nice rooms in the resort however, in the first day they give you an ugly room in the main building with reception and main restaurant, very close to the main road and entrance but very far away from the sea and kid pools. If you want to change it with one more appropriate for a family with child you are requested to pay several tens of euro more. Inside the room we had air conditioning but it was a toy, only pushing the air I understand that everyone should make economy however, in April the water is still cold so they should leave the heated pools also this month. In the first part of the day almost none wants to enter in the cold pools, even the sea water was warmer. There was a big problem with the mosquitos inside the resort after the sunset and inside the rooms during the night. Between 5 and 6 pm they had a serious action spraying the entire resort that we couldn't breath for 30 minutes. We continuously used two liquid plug devices in our room in order to protect the child from the mosquitos during the night hours. The have several attractions: pool dancing and gym at some fix hours, beach volleyball and football, petang, water polo, tennis and table tennis, mini-golf. However, their attraction teams were not involved in starting these activities so, in the full week we stayed here, there were less than 10 people in total per day involved in these attractions. The quantity of the food and drinks was more than sufficient however, their general quality no. Beside the beer that was served from bottles (not draft), the juices were full of chemicals. We were buying every day fresh juices for our kids and sliced watermelon for 2-3 euro portion. The pool towels arrived to the end of their lives, they should start an action to change them. Some of these towels are pretty much deteriorated. Being outside of Hurgada in the norden part, for each excursion we were the first one to leave and the last one to return. Moreover, outside of the resort there isn't anything to do or to buy on a radius of 15 minute by walking.
Generally speaking, it's a lower quality (and cheaper) version of the 5 star resorts in Hurghada however, it has potential to grow if they are working to solve some of the weak...
Read moreStayed here with my parents. It was alright with a rocky start.
Here's all my tips in short:
Don't go to the buffet restaurant late. The earlier you are , the fresher and nicer the food.
There are two ATMs. The visible Euronet ATM is a scam. Whatever you do, don't accept its currency conversion and avoid checking balances (high fees). Go past the Euronet, through the shop area and you'll find a legit ATM from the bank of Egypt.
Expect to tip your service personnel. If you don't, don't expect good service. Try to tip them in the local currency (EGP).
You can also help your servers by changing their coin/change coin tips (e.g. euro coins) into bills, since they can't get coins changed at the bank. They might ask you to change 10 or 20€ in coins for a bill.
Uber works great in Egypt. Avoid getting taxis from the hotel as they're overpriced. We got a ride to the Hurghada aquarium and back (about 50 mins total) for under 400 EGP (about $8 total). Generally the experiences you can book are very overpriced. Haggle or plan something by yourself.
Avoid buying the souvenirs ar the Hotel. They'll tell you that it's a good price and that it's good quality, made locally and all, but it most likely isn't (straight from China).
All inclusive alcohol is hit and miss. Quality isn't always the same, we've had the best cocktails at the blue elephant bar.
Heres a longer description of our vacation:
Check-in was at 2 pm. We arrived at about 1:30, so they directed us to eat lunch at the buffet until we were able to check in. Let's just say it was a rough start. There was no service, we had to ask multiple times to get some cutlery. The buffet was plundered and unappetizing. The tables and floor were dirty. We were immediately disheartened and worried about our vacation, expecting this quality for the rest of our stay. There was a lady making fresh flatbread, at least that was good.
We later found out that the buffet restaurant is good if you get there early. Make sure to check out the outside grill area, that's where I found the good stuff. The dessert buffet was delicious with local treats. Once the person making flatbread knows you, they'll sometimes add butter, cheese or sesame. Absolutely delicious.
After the initial shock, we checked in and got to our rooms. They were fairly clean, everything was working, nothing really to complain about. They could've provided more drinking water, but room service always re-filled the fridge. If you ask/tip nicely they might put more water in your fridge.
They have multiple restaurants across the resort. Make sure to put in your reservations early. We weren't able to get to them all, only two of them were available during our stay: Fish Mint and Aladdin. Aladdin was great (local fresh delicious food), fish mint not so much (just fried fish, didn't seem fresh).
The pools are clean in the morning, covered in a film of sunscreen in the evening. Maybe use the pool early and opt for a cold shower in the evening. The sea at the beach is beautiful but very shallow. You have to go far out to get more than your knees wet. It was also very warm during August when we were there.
There was some animation/entertainment, great for children. Adults might have a better time at a bar or smoking Shisha at the beach.
The hotel isn't very luxurious and at times a bit rough around the edges, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. In fact, it's pretty good for the cost. Be mindful of the...
