We have been in this hotel in December 2014 and January 2015. The hotel in fact is a four star hotel, when we arrived it had been stripped off its fifth. The room was very tidy, nice and clean although both the furniture and the bathroom resebled the 1970s or 1980s. There was a small fridge which is useful if you don't want to drink warm water... There is a huge balcony which you may like during the summer but as we went here during Winter we couldn't use it for much.

The nearby mosque can be heard quite loudly as everywhere in Cairo.

The taxi found it very hard to find the location, if you don't have the arabic address your taxi drivers will have no idea where to go exactly.

Their restaurant is mediocre and overpriced. If you have breakfast in the price you must prepare to hear the same f* Tom Jones song and eat the same food every morning. The restaurant and hotel staff mostly speaks french and arabic and some english - don't expect deep conversations though. As with all arab countries, keep your belongings safe as they might get stolen. This brings back the memories of the safe in the hotel room which wasn't working. I was told twice that it will be fixed and it was fixed twice but as soon as the guy left the room the safe became useless again. So don't expect much, this is not an expensive hotel...

The location is quite good, the city centre is about 30 minutes by taxi. We got a personal driver's details who drove us around the city, it's a very nice and smart service. Renting them for a day costs about 150 EGP.

There is a small supermarket nearby so you can grab your own bottles of water and snacks. There is also a KFC nearby if you're fed up with the hotel's rubbish food. (It is advised to learn the arabic numbers to be able to read the prices...

The hotel is in the best possible location, making it super easy to get to any ancient sites and back to the airport. The rooms have an old-school vibe, but it’s a five-star kind of old-school. The restaurant service is great, like the staff were trained back when the hotel was still five-star. Personally, I was happy; for a four-star price, I got almost a five-star experience. The hotel might look a bit dusty from the outside, but it's really quiet, which is a big deal in Cairo. I didn't see the point of paying for a Hilton that's in a much worse location compared to this one. Plus, the rooms and service here are just as clean.

The Wi-Fi isn't fast, but it is available. The manager at the front desk will inform you of this upon check-in.

They have their own taxi service. You can book and pay for a trip beforehand at the reception, and have the driver wait for you while you're out exploring. Just coordinate with the manager beforehand about how long you'd like the driver to wait for you at the location. There are no restrictions, but you need to specify the waiting time before payment. They even took us all the way to Dahshur. The price is fixed, and you pay at the reception. The driver is just a driver and won't ask you for extra money, but we tipped him. I think they offer some tours, but we were more interested in having a driver and car for the whole day.

I'm saving this review so I know where to stay next time I'm in Cairo. Out of the four hotels I've tried there, this one's by far the best for location...

Overall a good hotel for an affordable trip. Staff were all friendly, Good facilities and restaurant on site. My partner had a massage etc. and was very happy. We were worried about the on site nigjtclub but you cannot hear any noise or other distance from it. One of the biggest let downs is the hundreds of pigeons that actually sit and drink from the (unheated) swimming pool. Be warned, the hotel is not in a tourist area, the surrounding neighbourhood is very busy but not much traffic noise etc. can be heard inside the hotel. The local area can seem intimidating but get out there and try the local street foods etc. we loved it! Our stay here was ruined only by the on site tour guides who from the time we approached them tried to take over and plan on their terms our entire stay. We had a very good first day at the pyramids but there were hidden costs. Our second day was ruined when we agreed to a trip out to Alexandria. We were told it would take no more than 2 hours to get there but it took nearly 3! The driver then got hopelessly lost and wasted another hour of our day. I was tracking the journey on Google maps itching to intervene. We were hurried around with no time left to browse local shops etc. Again, hidden costs. Using this tour facility you will only be taken to places they choose, we felt rushed and hassled the whole time. Don't use them to get you to the airport either, they are 3x the cost of booking an Uber!

The hotel was very beautiful 50 years ago. Now it appeared a bit old and worn out. Yet, the rooms were quiet, and despite old beds, we slept as babies. Breakfast was normal: boiled eggs, meat, vegetables, etc. No fruits, no fried eggs. Coffee we didn't like. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere.. I would suggest taking Uber to go to the city centre and all sites. We reserved a driver at the hotel, which was triple more expensive than Uber and looks like was driving us too long taking strange roads. We also took a guide at the hotel for one day. It didn't give much of information, just accompanied us at all places and then drove us to 2 of the shops where he had a commission. Definitely don't recommend the guide. Internet is extremely slow.. It blocked games and movies. We were not using. In general, it was a 3 star experience. I put 4 just because we were resting there really nice and sleeping like babies.
