What an incredible place. I rarely return to the same destination twice, but Tawila Island Resort might be the exception. With its stunningly isolated setting and tranquil atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to unwind, disconnect, and recharge.||That said, there are a few areas that, if refined, could elevate the experience from amazing to unforgettable.||🏡 Room|I stayed in a water villa — breathtaking views and a beautiful layout, but several small issues cropped up during my stay:||Flickering lights in both the bedroom and bathroom|Speakers that stopped working|Air conditioning failed on the first night|Inconsistent room servicing — sometimes the minibar and coffee station were restocked, sometimes not|Beach towels were occasionally taken and not replaced||To management’s credit, most issues were resolved promptly once reported — thank you for that.||🤝 Service|The staff are all exceptionally friendly and welcoming, but service is inconsistent. You often have to track someone down to get what you need. A proactive approach — even an occasional check-in — would make a huge difference.||🍽 Food|Breakfast was the clear highlight — fresh, varied, and delicious. Lunch and dinner, while tasty, felt somewhat limited, and prices at Reeds were on the steep side. My biggest disappointment was ordering a ribeye steak that turned out to be more of a chuck cut — not great value at €65 if you’re a red-meat lover.||Overall, the food is good, but a wider selection would really elevate the dining experience.||🏖 Activities & Spa|Given the resort’s remote location, I’d love to see a few more organized activities for guests who don’t just want to lounge by the beach all day.||The spa is a lovely touch, with complimentary access to the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. The massages, however, are… spirited. Let’s just say their interpretation of a “Swedish massage” is on the energetic side!||💪 Facilities|The gym is fantastic — easily one of the best I’ve used in any hotel. Huge thanks to management for opening it early for me each morning. A few practical tweaks would help:||No towels or cups available most mornings|The sound system and one of the TVs didn’t work||Small fixes, but they make a difference.||🧹 Cleanliness|For a resort of this caliber, more attention to tidiness would go a long way. I often saw overflowing trash bins, cups and glasses left out for days, and quite a bit of plastic debris along the garden paths and even in the sea. With the strong winds, regular checks and cleanups are essential.||🎵 Music|I actually loved the idea of music playing throughout the resort — it adds a nice vibe — but the playlists really need variety. Hearing the same Ed Sheeran song for a week nearly drove me to drink (well, more than usual!). Also, the volume in dining areas was often too loud.||---|Final Thoughts||Tawila Island Resort is a truly special place — surreal, serene, and visually stunning. It’s so close to being an all round five-star experience, but there are still a few teething problems to iron out: maintenance consistency, proactive service, and some fine-tuning of the food and operations.||Despite the hiccups, I’d absolutely return. The magic of the island outweighs the small frustrations — but with a little more polish, this could easily be one of the best resorts...
Read moreThis is a five star hotel. We really didn’t know what to expect so we only booked one night. I wish it was more. We arrived from Cairo by plane (recommended) and we took a cab from the airport to the port where there was a speedboat waiting to take us to the island. 45 minutes later we arrived and were greeted by Karm who was our go to person on the island. Anything we needed Karm was always attentive and responsive. Check-in was done by WhatsApp in advance so we stopped at the lobby, got the keys from Hend who was the front desk receptionist. She was pleasant to deal with and very helpful. Also met Moustafe the manager and he also went above and beyond. We checked into a beachfront room, 102. The room is hard to describe. It truly was breathtaking. You open your veranda door and you are on the sand with your own private beach. Beach is crystal clear waters. It’s like we were transported to the Maldives except without the 24 hour flight from the US. We booked all inclusive which included all meals and soft drinks. Alcohol was not included but could be purchased Breakfast was nice. Views while eating were phenomenal. Dinner was served at the Reed restaurant. Food was tasty. Service was wonderful especially Mariham Overall, we had an excellent experience. Would have loved to extend but we had reservations elsewhere. Going to be hard to find hotel on the area of El Gouna that combines such natural beauty, great rooms, wonderful swimmable beach and great service. God willing, we...
