A fantastic hotel with suberb friendly staff. We returned back to our daughters in cario 30th dec after 10 day stay. The whole place is immaculately cleano. From toilets to food area to bars. Staff are constantly attentive to your needs without being overbering and wanting to please you nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely despite occassionally being repeatative a couplle of times. Howeved with having 2 small granchilren aged 2 +6 they made them meals off pasta and or chips at our request without any problem at all if our granchildren didbt like the adults menu...this consisted of full english/egyptian salads and always a chicken ...fish...meat and vegatarian(most days) but they wuld make u pasta or alternative on request. In 10 days chips was on matn buffett menu once!!! all meals are buffett. We were all inclusive with very few other guests staying more than 1-2 nights of which 80%+ were chinese part of tours of then area of luxor aswan dam..valleys of kings and queens.. karnak temples.. and other historical features. The hotel is built on the nile with fantastic views of valleys ofnkings and queens on the other bank opposite. Unfortnately beingnthis time of year the pool was cold but we were still in shorts and tea shirts at 26 degrees+ daily. My treat was a package of massage 3 x treatments of1hr body massage .... a 45 min reflexology treatment of feet and lower legs which ran over by least 10-15 mins.... 45min head and shoulder inc face mask which again ran over all for 1000 le (abt £41-42) I enjoyed it so much by Shebina i booked the whole...
Read moreThe rooms do not have AC at night (in winters). There is no ventilation or air in the room due to this I felt claustrophobic. I have stayed in peak winter in Egypt in atleast 4 hotels from different groups in Alexandria & Cairo including Accor hotel in Cairo (Giza) & all hotels provide AC irrespective of type of weather. I have stayed in colder regions of the world with sub zero temperature, but the hotels there always take care of this requirement. This is what is expected from a 5 start hotel. When asked for a fan atleast, the hotel staff said they don't have it. Coming to amenities, I requsted for a body lotion atleast half a dozen times (combined) to house keeping and reception, but never got any. I had booked a Nile view room and when I checked in I was given a room (2051) with palm trees in front of the window. When I asked the reception, they said they only have partial Nile view rooms and upon pushing them, I was given this room 2047, which has a decent view. This is the worst Accor hotel I have ever stayed in. All it's beauty and splendor goes to waste of they are not able to fulfil the basic need from a hotel for a traveller - a comfortable night's sleep !!!
Ps: I was given a fan after persistent...
Read moreThat pool & those gardens, the view of the Nile, just wow! The hotel is quite far from the city but for me, who was looking for peace & quiet, it was a perfect location.
The rooms could do with a little touch up, but the attentive staff - a particular shout out to the incredibly helpful & friendly Rita in Guest Relations! - make up for that.
The pool is nothing short of gorgeous - this time of year, in May, the temperature was perfect, slightly warm but cooler than the ambient temperature making it comfortably refreshing. It's also comforting to have two lifeguards on duty.
The food choices were limited, perhaps related to Ramadan? with only two restaurants open at the time, but the coffee in the Moorish Cafe was, without doubt, the best I've had in Egypt.
One thing to note - the prices for taxis are displayed on the inside of the door to the hotel just to the right as you exit, the taxi driver that arrived for me wanted to charge me twice what was listed on the hotel price list so ensure that you agree a price before leaving the hotel. If your driver won't negotiate simply go back in, tell Guest Relations or Reception what's happened and ask them to call you...
