By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at — not just in Egypt, but anywhere in the world. If you’re not Arab, don’t even think about booking this place unless you want a major headache and to ruin your vacation. When they see you’re a foreigner, they try to overcharge you, even at the restaurant, with rigged prices. I bought a risotto for €6, and when they converted it to EGP to charge my card, they tried to charge €8 instead. So make sure you watch closely when you’re paying here.

The last straw was when I went to the beach to watch the sunset. The beach is filthy and poorly maintained — swimming there is impossible, with trash and sharp rocks that could cut you. The only thing you can really do is sit on the chairs. While I was sitting there, I left my flip-flops in the sand. After watching the sunset, I was heading to eat when I found out that one of the Arab kids from the hotel (about 14 years old or older) had taken one of my flip-flops and cut it with scissors, making it unusable.

When I went to report it to reception, they told me it was ‘a dog,’ even though the flip-flop had no bite marks and a very clear scissor cut. I asked to see the security cameras; they delayed showing me the footage, and then it turned out they had cut the video, claiming it automatically stops recording when there’s no motion. However, they forgot to cut a part where you can clearly see the hotel kid holding my flip-flop.

When I asked for compensation, they refused. First, they claimed the kid was holding a hotel key — I showed mine, which is tiny compared to a flip-flop — and then they said it was a water bottle. I asked them to call the police, but they refused. A policewoman happened to pass by, and when I asked her for help, they spoke to her in Arabic, and she just left.

I can’t imagine if I had lost something more valuable, like my phone or laptop. After this happened, I had to carry all my valuables with me whenever I went out because I didn’t want to risk having something else damaged and being fed the same lies. I have never felt so mistreated in a hotel. They have no idea what hospitality to guests means. If they don’t want to treat foreigners well, they should just make it an Arab-only hotel and spare people from having such a...

If you’re looking for an alternative from large all-inclusive resorts and a more local authentic vibe then I highly recommend Lagoonie. The staff are lovely and helpful and friendly. There’s a lovely private well kept beach with sun beds. Egyptian breakfast is included - yoghurt, omelette, Egyptian bread with cream cheese tomato cucumber and butter and jams. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner. Alcohol is available. WiFi is good in the rooms. Rooms are spacious and well kept (although the walls in our bathroom could have done with a good clean). Lagoonie is a few hundred metres from Dune Red Sea diving as well as the marina where all the dive boats leave from - so it’s the perfect location if you want to do some diving. There are also a few cafes and restaurants within walking distance which are safe to walk to at night. Safaga is eerily quiet these days in the face of COVID but it also means we had a lovely peaceful break with the hotel largely to ourselves. A great time to visit is now and help to get the tourist industry back on its feet. Lagoonie is a great value highly recommended...

We’ve stayed in el Jawhara last month and it was nice. Hey ||The hotel is all new and the decoration is light, clean and suits the beach style that characterises the hotel. It has a private little beach with the best sun beds, from which leaving a photo of.||However, I confess i was a bit disappointed about the beach. Ill explain, on the sides of the hotel beach there are what it looks like public beaches or beaches that we once part of other complexes and now abandoned. Which means there is litter and it eventually comes to the hotel beach with the sea and the wind.||Food:|We had a half board package |Food was delicious. Everything we had was cooked to perfection and the chef Mansour was always checking if everything was ok.|Food was always different and just of thinking of it my mouth is now watering...||Staff:|Can’t praise them highly enough! All the guys working in the bar/ restaurant were so so nice! Big up to Moumin, Anouar and Hamada you are so professional, always check if we need something and most important: you made us smile all the times and made sure we were happy. Keep up the...

I spent there about two nights in a double room with breakfast and it was a great choice for me specially if you are coming in mission or doing job in Safaga. The price is very good and reasonable, the room was clean large and modern, the beds were OK and so far was comfy, bathroom also was OK and clean. Breakfast was good for me and it was open buffet There is free WiFi in the rooms also there is a gym. The beach small and rocky but it's good for snorkeling. There is no private parking but you can keep your car in the front of the hotel in the street and its totally safe. The stuff are friendly and helpful. I like this place and always it will be my first choice when I ll come to Safaga.

We stayed at Lagoonie via Freedom Divers and we had a comfortable stay. Rooms are spacious and the dinner was good. Every day we were served a different soup and salad and there were 2 main dishes to choose from. Breakfast was simple, but with a good omelet. Only short walk to the boat for diving. Cleanliness could be a bit better, but overall we enjoyed our stay and the staff is really friendly!!
