Rixos Premium Magawish Review|4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️||⸻||✈️ Arrival||We arrived after midnight, check-in was fairly quick. We had booked a Sea View Villa with private pool (no. 1007) and received it as expected. Thankfully, there are no annoying bracelets here.||⸻||🏡 Accommodation 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️||The villa consists of two rooms – a living room and a bedroom. It’s very spacious and comfortable. There are even two all-inclusive minibars. The bathroom has a separate toilet area and a large shower.|⚠️ Just a small warning: the villa is very close to the main animation pool, which means loud music that you will hear on the patio by your pool and even inside the rooms.|Big thanks for the excellent cleaning service 🙏.||⸻||🍽️ Food & Restaurants 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️||We tried several à la carte restaurants (Salt, Brazilian, Peoples, and the new Mykonos), as well as Turquoise.||Breakfast – Fine, but we expected more. For example, no nuts, no peanut butter, very limited jam options, boring fruit selection (more on this later). Only orange juice was available. Big plus for the salmon though 🐟 and very tasty croissants 🥐.||Lunch – Not great. Almost the same thing every day. You can choose meat and have it grilled, but everything tastes more or less the same. They don’t always refill the trays, so if you come later, choices are limited. The beef is thin and not great for steak. Every day there was crab 🦀 – which felt repetitive. A bit more variety would help.|Egyptian desserts are very good, but the international ones often look different yet taste the same. Fruit selection is poor: in September there should be mango and watermelon, but there wasn’t any. Just green melon, apple, banana, pear, dates, and sometimes kiwi (difficult to eat with cutlery). Vegetables were fine.||Dinner – Definitely the best meal of the day in Turquoise. Every other day you could get shrimp 🍤 as well as sushi (though not as good as Seagate – almost no real fish, mostly crab sticks and fish paste). Mango was treated like a special event – a chef had to prepare it in front of guests because it was so rare. Still, no watermelon, no peaches. Desserts were better in the evenings.||Salt – Very good, highly recommend the lobster bisque 🦞.||Brazilian – Disappointing. Not bad, but we know the concept (tried in Seagate as well). Here we only had about five types of meat. No dessert, no pineapple 🍍 (again, fruit shortage in a 5★ hotel feels unacceptable).||Mykonos – Greek-style. Calamari were very chewy, otherwise good with nice atmosphere.||Peoples (Dinner) – Disappointing. They seem to have changed the menu – no carpaccio anymore. Bruschetta wasn’t authentic. Shrimp casserole had small shrimp with a frozen aftertaste (better get grilled shrimp at Turquoise or another à la carte).||Peoples (Lunch) – We tried chicken wrap, club sandwich and panini. No problem, decent for a quick snack.||⸻||🍹 Drinks & Service 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️||La Crème Café – excellent Starbucks-style coffee, especially the frappuccino ☕️❄️.|Service was good in all restaurants 👍. The only letdown: no service on the right side of the beach (near the ice cream stand). There are drink stations throughout the resort, but they often weren’t restocked properly – soda was frequently missing.|Panorama Bar – tasty cocktails 🍸, but slow service. Toilets were poor.||⸻||🎭 Atmosphere & Animation 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️||Positive surprise: we were never asked to write a positive review 🙌. Also, sellers weren’t pushy – if you said no, they respected it.|We loved the rabbits 🐇 and the small produce garden 🥬. The entire resort is spotless and the gardens are beautiful 🌺.|The animation team was very active during our stay, making the hotel lively. Activities included yoga 🧘, water gym, darts, and other games. Every evening there was a show – we especially liked the Arabian Night 🌙, though seating was limited.|Wi-Fi worked fine almost everywhere 📶.||⸻||🌊 Sea & Pools 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️||Although they claim to remove towels from empty loungers, it was still hard to find a free spot unless you reserved early.|The sea had very little marine life – but we knew this in advance.|We were glad to have our private pool 🏊, because the main pool by the beach was crowded with games and activities all day, leaving no real chance to swim.||⸻||✅ Overall||Good, but not exceptional. We found Rixos Seagate to be better...
Read moreDear CEO of Rixos Hotels,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern following our recent stay at Rixos Premium Magawish in Hurghada, where I traveled with my extended family – a group of 13 people – to celebrate the Easter holiday. This visit was especially meaningful for us, as I had previously stayed at the same hotel in 2022 and had an exceptional experience, which is why I strongly recommended it to my entire family. Unfortunately, this year’s experience was far from what we expected, and it has left us deeply disappointed and concerned.
One of the most alarming incidents occurred when we were on the beach during a windy day (approximately 35 km/h winds). The windbreak panels provided by the hotel were not properly secured. While I was sitting on a sunbed with my 10-year-old son, one of the panels was blown over and struck him in the head, causing a serious injury. Despite asking for a doctor five times from the beach staff, we only received basic first aid from a lifeguard. Eventually, we had to go to the reception to demand medical attention, after which the hotel’s doctor referred us to a clinic for a CT scan. I am attaching the medical report to this email. This situation could have had far more serious consequences and highlights a severe lack of safety and emergency response on the part of the hotel.
Another significant issue was related to room allocation. My sisters, who were traveling with children, were initially given rooms with no bathroom doors – an unacceptable condition for a family. Only after raising this issue at reception was it resolved the next day by Mr. Hazem, who was the only staff member that responded promptly and professionally to our concerns.
The food quality and variety were also disappointing. Meals were extremely repetitive, with very limited options and low-quality ingredients. Moreover, it was nearly impossible to secure a reservation at the à la carte restaurants. One of my sisters remarked that the food at Xanadu Makadi Bay, where she stayed last year, was far superior, and for a hotel carrying the Rixos name – supposedly the most luxurious in Hurghada – this was simply unacceptable.
One of the main reasons we chose a Rixos property and paid several thousand euros more than other options was our previous confidence in the Rixos brand: safety for children, high-quality, diverse food, and excellent service. Sadly, none of these expectations were met during this stay.
Even more alarming were the conditions at the water activities. The inflatable water slide, when deflated, posed a real danger. Staff would run electrical cables through the water to reinflate it using a compressor – a serious safety hazard. Children were left stranded between the slide and the water due to insufficient air, with risk of injury or drowning. I have a video of one such incident, which I will try to attach as well. Additionally, the floating mats were anchored to a 50 cm rock placed just below the surface, creating a hidden danger – a child could easily jump off and hit the rock.
Despite reporting these serious safety issues to hotel management, no visible action was taken during our stay.
I urge you to consider restoring the level of management and standards that were clearly present in 2022 – possibly by reinstating the Turkish manager who was there at the time. The current condition of Rixos Premium Magawish is far from what one would expect from the Rixos name and, quite frankly, it is damaging to the reputation of your esteemed brand.
Please take this complaint seriously. We traveled in full trust and paid a premium for what we believed would be a memorable and safe family holiday, and instead, we left with disappointment, concern, and the feeling that Rixos no longer lives up to its own name. This message was also sent to the email addresses( call@rixos.com) that appear publicly and I did not receive a response....

We are a young family with a toddler and a pregnancy in the final trimester — and we’re writing this review honestly, as we would have appreciated reading a clear and realistic review beforehand ourselves.
We recently stayed at Rixos Premium Magawish with high expectations, based on multiple excellent experiences with the Rixos Group in other countries. Unfortunately, this hotel fell significantly short in many areas.
Food & Beverage • The buffet is the weakest we’ve experienced at any five-star hotel. Food lacked flavor, meat was tough, and the variety was minimal. No à la carte breakfast, no egg station, and the same food every day. Even boiled eggs were poorly prepared. Other guests told us cheaper Rixos hotels offered better food. • No staff ever proactively offered drinks at the buffet — we had to ask each time. • A Caesar salad ordered at 10 p.m. at People’s Restaurant had ice-cold chicken, straight from the freezer, and was inedible.
Children & Family-Friendliness • Despite being family-oriented, the hotel offers no basic equipment for kids: no children’s cutlery, no reusable cups or plates, no bibs. This leads to broken glass and added stress. • The Kids Club is outdoors only, under full sun. There is no indoor area, so it can only be used in the evening. Staff were disengaged and focused mostly on Russian-speaking guests. Everything felt cold and unwelcoming for kids.
Service & Staff • Staff seemed poorly trained and spoke limited English. While we understand language barriers, the lack of hospitality was disappointing. • Some guests may behave rudely, but that shouldn’t result in indifferent treatment for everyone.
Cabana Experience • We paid €250/day expecting premium service. Instead, only street food was offered — no menu. After insisting, we were allowed to order a salmon filet for $60 extra. This should have been possible from the start. • No packaged ice cream was available for cabana guests. Pregnant wife and toddler had to walk to Salt Restaurant for 3 flavors — raspberry, coffee, blackberry. Guests returned with melted ice cream in their hands. • No water source near the cabana to wash off sand. Overall, extremely poor value for money.
Guest Policy Issues • Friends staying at another hotel were told visiting us would be fine — then charged $200 per person. At their hotel (Steigenberger), we could visit for free and even join dinner. • When booking a day pass for family, we were only told after arrival that it was valid until 6 p.m. Completely unprofessional and unfair.
Final Thoughts We still have a few days left of our 10-night stay, but after many Rixos visits, this is clearly the worst. The hotel has potential, but cuts corners in all the wrong areas.
If you’re traveling as a family and want value for money, avoid this hotel. You’ll save yourself stress, disappointment, and a review like this one.
The grounds are nice, and the weather is great — but this was not a five-star experience. We will not return.
Addendum: Including severe food...
