After coming to the hotel, we were asked for leaving our luggage in front of the entrance. After reading some reviews we knew the staff at the reception may not be very nice. It turned out that EVERY receptionist was nice, willing to help and smiling, and that the reviews weren’t true. We had to fill out one document before checking in (then we have got local drink) and we received our room. It was room number 2812 (family room), very close to the beach. There were two rooms separated by door, each has own terrace. It was really pretty. Every day men cleaned the room and made nice decorations (animals, flowers) from towels. We always left 1$/day on bed. Every day 1 bottle of mineral water (1.5l) was brought to the room, for the start- 2 bottles. When we asked there was no problem with getting a new mint pack. The luggage was brought to our door, which was a great help. The complex’s very large, as there are 3 pavilions of several 3-level blocks. However, it isn’t a long walk to the restaurant or reception from the beach- a 5-minute walk. The beach is very nice. There is a bar, several places where you can buy souvenirs or a diving center. If you dream of swimming in the sea, it would be better to go to the pier (it is about 700 meters). From the beach, I recommend to walk or lie in the sea. There is a beautiful coral reef at the pier’s end. Especially I recommend you to come in the morning - before breakfast - to do some snorkeling. Then there are a lot of fishes and the sea is quite calm. Really lovely views. During our stay, the red flag was often because it was very windy - it wasn’t a good idea to go far out to sea. There’s a bar on the beach - especially, I recommend eating a pizza there in the afternoon - you choose the ingredients yourself, it is baked for a few minutes. It is really delicious, crunchy. When it comes to the pools - there are several of them. There are also slides, but they are open at specific times. The pools are cleaned in the evening, but the wind probably causes leaves or sand in them anyway. Such nature! It didn't bother us. The pools are not deep - they are 1.35 meters (except for the paddling pool). There are 2 swim-up bars. I recommend the one closer to the slides. There is very nice, smiling waiter, Mohamed, who leaves every day at 10am, takes orders, and then brings them to you. When he knows the guests, the drinks are already waiting at the table at 10 am! He perfectly remembers the names of guests, often jokes. Importantly, contrary to appearances, he is nice even when he does not see any banknote. Full professionalism. When it comes to SPA, there are several men around the pool, offering massages or treatments. We decided to get massages (one - $ 25). It lasted 50 minutes - no pain the next day. Really nice relax. There is also a gym there. Unfortunately, some equipment didn’t work, but there was a place to practice, so I have no complaints either. The food was very varied and tasty! The waiter Mohamed and Ahmed C. in particular deserve thanks. When ordering drinks, they managed to go to a completely different place so that we could get what we wanted. Unfortunately, not every waiter was like that, for example when ordering soda. Very tasty juices for breakfast with fresh fruit, I also recommend individually made pasta for lunch/dinner. As for the bar at the reception, the service is first class! The best is Mr. Ahmed! (we found out, he has been working there since the end of May / beginning of June). It’s rare that a waiter really cares about the guests and always asks if all is good. There it was 😊. We never waited long for drinks! There was no situation when he suggested getting a tip. He was always smiling. Sitting inside the bar you could see that he was the most hard-working. He made our stay better without any doubt!!! 1 free dinner per stay is offered at La Taverna, there food’s also good. Animators are super friendly. Thank you so much for great holidays. Hope to...

❌ WARNING: Bed Bugs, Toxic Drinks, and Fake “5-Star” Experience

We just returned from Casa Mare “5-star” hotel — and honestly, it was the worst vacation experience we’ve ever had. If you value your health, sleep, or basic respect — avoid this place at all costs.

We arrived at night around 2:00 AM. Instead of being checked in, we were led to a restaurant where the only “meal” was cold chicken nuggets and fries. We finally got a room at 5:00 in the morning — after almost three hours of waiting and several complaints. The first room had a strong paint smell, twin beds, and even a baby bed, although we’re a young couple without kids. After asking for a change, we got a room with a double bed but an even worse location — ground floor with a “garden view” that was literally a wall two meters away.

From the very beginning, it was clear that the management doesn’t care about guests unless you pay extra. They constantly push you to buy “VIP access” for €75 per person just to get bottled water, Wi-Fi, and basic treatment — things that are standard in every 4-star hotel in Egypt. Without that, you’re treated like a second-class guest.

The food is a complete disaster. Everything is made from the cheapest ingredients, heavily reused, and tastes the same every day. They try to fake “variety” by cutting the same sponge cakes or puff pastries into different shapes — all soaked in sugar syrup. What looks like 10 different dishes is actually the same food repeated five times. They cut fruits and salads as it was a cook show... looked poor and pathetic. Every day: ground beef in different shapes — “kofta,” “meatballs,” “burger” It’s ridiculous. The so-called “fish stand” advertised tuna and barracuda, but when we asked, they offered us small mackerel, and kept promising tuna “in 5 minutes” — for over an hour (there was not tuna at all, just a fake advertisement) Total disrespect.

The grill station was another joke: empty trays, cooks standing around chatting, and only oily vegetables available. And the top absurdity — an “Indian kebab” that was literally beef goulash. For context — cow is sacred in India! That sums up how little they know or care about what they serve.

Now the worst part — bed bugs. After several nights, we woke up with red itchy bites in a chain pattern, clearly bed bugs. Reception told us “it’s just mosquitoes” and refused to investigate. Only after insisting, they moved us to another room. Few more couples reported the same! Completely unacceptable! The most cynical is that next day they moven in our previous room new tourists.

As for drinks — the alcohol is undrinkable. Wine smells and tastes like paint thinner, cocktails are made with cheap local spirits, and even soft drinks taste off. We had stomach problems after drinking beer, which stopped immediately after we quit drinking it. That says it all. Only bottled water, don't play with your health.

Cleaning staff were polite and did their job, but that’s the only thing working here.

This hotel should be downgraded to 3 stars at best.

👉 We travel a lot and know what to expect from Egyptian resorts — but this one is a fake 5-star trying to milk guests for every euro.

Never again. Save your money, nerves, and health —...

One of the Worst “5-Star” Experiences Ever – Avoid Casa Mare||We’ve just returned from Casa Mare, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing trips we’ve ever had.|If you’re expecting a 5-star resort experience, you will be terribly let down.||We arrived late at night, around 2:00 AM, tired after the flight. Instead of receiving our room, we were led to a restaurant where the only food available was cold chicken nuggets and fries. We finally got a room close to 5:00 in the morning, after several hours of waiting. The first room smelled strongly of paint, had twin beds and even a baby bed (though we are a young couple). After requesting a change, we were moved to a different room — same issues, just with a double bed and a “garden view” that was literally a wall two meters away.||The first impression set the tone for the entire stay. The management seems completely disorganized and focused mainly on selling “VIP packages” (€75 per person) for basic things like bottled water, Wi-Fi, or better treatment. If you don’t pay for the upgrade, you simply get ignored.||The food is honestly the weakest point of this hotel. Every meal looks different but tastes exactly the same — all made from the cheapest possible ingredients.|Breakfast, lunch, dinner – same dishes recycled in new forms. The desserts are just sponge cakes or puff pastries soaked in sugar syrup, presented as ten “different” options that are actually the same. It’s fake variety.||One evening, there was a “fish stand” supposedly offering tuna and barracuda. In reality, it was just small mackerel, and after an hour of checking back, there was still no tuna. Another day, the “grill station” was practically empty while the cooks stood around chatting. And the biggest absurdity was the “Indian kebab” – which turned out to be beef goulash. It would be funny if it weren’t so sad.||The alcohol is another disaster. Wine smells like paint thinner, cocktails are undrinkable, and even the beer caused us stomach problems that disappeared only after we stopped drinking it. Soft drinks and coffee are just as bad.||As if that wasn’t enough, we started waking up with itchy red bites appearing in a chain pattern – clear signs of bed bugs. When reported, reception said, “These are mosquitoes,” and refused to take action. Only after we insisted were we moved to another room, losing half a day of our holiday in the process.||Cleaning staff were polite and did their best, but that’s about the only positive we can mention.|Yes, the reef is beautiful, and there’s a good kitesurfing spot nearby — but those are the only two redeeming features of this resort.||In summary:| • Reception & management: 1/10| • Food: 1/10| • Room: 6/10 (after change)| • View: 1/10| • Alcohol: 1/10 (beer 3/10)| • Clean service: 8/10| • Reef: 9/10||This hotel is not a real 5-star property — it’s a low 3-star at best, hiding behind marketing photos and false promises.|We’ve stayed in many Egyptian resorts before, and this one is by far the most disappointing.|Would never return and cannot recommend...

Overall - great, 5/5, would recommend Detailed, starting with negatives, mostly minor: 1. We've got a room (deluxe with jacuzzi) with broken both showers 2. After the showers were fixed (they're ready to fix them almost instantly, huge +, but it should be inspected before giving the room to customers, we smelled a faint smell coming from the pipes. It was pointed out during daily cleanup but it didn't really get better 3. As an animal lover I have to point that out, because I saw that on a daily basis - the horses. I understand that they have stables but when they are working, waiting for people to rent them/ride them they don't have the access to drinking water... 4. The internet connection is just bad. If it works - 30-40Mbps. The key word - IF works, so be prepared to rest with no stable connection 5. The aqua aerobic / aqua gym animation time is nowhere to be found - on every board it's blacked out and we knew about them just because we were swimming in the pool and the animation team were shouting about it :D 6. The same goes for the evening animations - almost impossible to know the time/theme without asking anyone with exception of belly dancing and mini disco. Also 3 days before departure we found a board saying which evening event is happening on which day but didn't find that info anywhere else 7. Volleyball games start at 11am AND at 4pm but the board shows only one time - 11am, I knew the second time just by pure luck 8. There should be at least a few maps with the pointer "you are here" and with listed most important buildings in the complex and with room number ranges in the buildings. That would help a lot in the first days. We've got an envelope with general map but it wasn't helpful at all 9. Very minor issue - the clocks over the reception aren't set correctly, every one of them lives its own life :) 10. Very minor issue - the room was in my name and the birthday wishes came with my name on it on the day of my mom's birthday Now with positives: 1. Obviously. Great weather (in December for Poles is not too hot not to warm, almost always stable 25-27 degrees) 2. Awesome beach 3. And even better coral with unbelievably clear water, a lot of different fish, sometimes turtles and stingrays that are used to the people and don't run away and beautiful coral 4. Great personel. Everybody seemed happy and were incredibly helpful and informational when needed. I understand that it's their job to always smile and help when needed but it created that "light" aura and ability to rest better 5. Many possible every day activities - everything for everyone. Volleyball, yoga aqua and step aerobics, dance lessons, ping pong, boccia, darts, snorkeling, diving (free lesson in the pool), evening animations 6. Everyday room cleaning. The general cleaning keeps the room fresh and clean and I'm sure if we'd ask we'd get deeper cleaning if needed 7. Although the food was not perfect - everybody should find something tasty and/or healthy with different kitchen every day

This is a report on a stay in July 2016 before Royal Tulip became so popular (and expensive due to high demand). The hotel was fully booked when we there with mostly German, Polish, Czech, and Egyptians among others. But Germans are the sweeping majority. The hotel has two large pools but they were too crowded as some guests reserve all the seats from the early morning with their towels! Anyway, that is not important I was there for the sea activities which are great. The resort has one of the longest jetties out there, more than 1 KM ending at great corals. The corals are 10-15 meter deep and great snorkeling is possible, There is also on-site diving center and talking to some of the divers they said the diving at 20-25 meters very close to the jetty is fantastic. From the peer you can watch turtles and if lucky dolphins. One day I was able to swim and watch a herd of 5-6 small-sized dolphins. This was great. Marsa Alam is well known for the wind and kite surfing is abound and there is a school in the resort, expensive but worth the try. Will try it next time as it needs at least 4-5 days of instruction. Food is also great in the resort, breakfast and dinner are 5*, lunch 4*, and whatever you can think of is available. Be warned that some of the guests perform a "Blitz Krieg" on the dish goodies in the restaurant and sometimes they are gone early, Snacks on the beach and drinks/ice-cream on the pool are abound. The rooms are of good size and ours has good view of the pool and the sea but the bathroom ventilation sucks and also the water can spill out of the bathing area to the bathroom floor. The staff in the restaurant and room service are very helpful. The reception people are; however; very unprofessional. They called us the night before we leave trying to push us out of the room at 11 AM while we leave at 3:30. This is unacceptable and we stayed till 12:00 as in the reservation. Also, they had a cold welcome when we arrived and very cold check-out that is really un-welcoming. The entertainment team are also very active and welcoming and work hard throughout the day and night. However, the program is not really great but maybe because I have seen that in many other Egyptian resorts in a repetitive manner. The nearby Tulip Magic share the same beach and is much less crowded for no clear reason. Maybe the rooms are older or something? Overall a very good place.

Hygiene echt schlecht 👎👎👎👎👎. Nun ja 5-Sterne in Ägypten wären in Dubai gute 3 Sterne gewesen. Service beim Essen teilweise etwas chaotisch. Ras al Khaimah gewesen und wollten mal was neues ausprobieren😔😔. Nächste Reise wird also wohl wieder in die alte Richtung gehen😉. Die Reise mit Schauinsland war sehr gut organisiert. Transfer total unproblematisch.
