The hotel looks five star but is a little run down. The original building has three floors with an old elevator. We stayed in the new annex behind the original building. It continues the numbering of the original building - 4 on the ground floor and 5 on the upper. This building only has stairs, one internal but others exiting externally into the garden. One of the outside stairs has a broken bottom step, some areas are a little dusty but generally it is clean. There are a number of seating areas in the garden and a pool that looked very clean but no-one was using it in the cooler weather. The pool is closed overnight to allow it to be chemically treated.||They had run out of king beds so we took a double room and got the beds pushed together. There were two comfortably large chairs and a small table. Initially we heard a bit of road noise but closing the window and curtains made it absolutely quiet. The air conditioner worked well all night, the beds were comfortable and we had a really good night’s sleep. The smallish bathroom is a bit old fashioned with a shower curtain instead of a door but the water is hot and the pressure good. There was a bar fridge we could use.||The hotel has tourist police at the entrance but, after checking, they let us go off and we had a pleasant walk on the Minya Corniche along the Nile. As it was less touristed we were less accosted by locals. There are some nice restaurants nearby (one we had lunch at, I think it was Orkeed) and also some takeaway chains that might be an option because we weren't impressed by the hotel food at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was pretty basic with a few hot dishes, three types of pastries and some salads and was basically unappetising. The restaurant on the third floor has lovely views over the Nile. ||Other issues were that the reception had mislaid our reservation, we had to ask for bottled water, a second towel and there were some difficulties with our magnetic room key. However, if you are visiting El Minya then this might be as decent a hotel as is available though obviously I didn't have a chance to try the alternatives. It’s not perfect, it doesn’t have the extras we had been used to getting in Egypt nor a special vibe but I thought it was a good place to sleep and walk...
Read moreThis hotel is terrible to stay in for several reasons:|- First of all, they couldn't find our reservation and they put us in a building "SUPPOSED" to be the new one.|- The lobby was very hot, and dirty with dust everywhere, on the tables, floor ...etc.|- The room was filthy, full of dust, cobwebs everywhere. we could not touch any surface.|- Cracks on the walls and they tape them to cover, and we felt that the building is going to collapse on us.|- The bathroom tab was broken.|- The towels are very dirty, that I use the toilet paper to dry my hands|- I didn't or my other room could not take a shower because we were afraid to touch anything.|- The doorknob came out of our hands several times.|- The fridge is rusted from outside. I even didn't dare to open it.|- No single cup in the room (Which is the very least or common thing to be in the room)|- No amenity whatsoever in the room.|- The bag in the trash can was never replaced and they've been reuse it over and over again, because simply the hotel is very cheap to spend on anything. |- The restaurant was very poor quality, shaggy, very dark, table clothes were not even fit for a road motel style, not a 4 stars hotel as they claimed. We even didn't tempt to get there to eat. just looking from outside.||I am not sure how they rate this hotel is a 4 stars hotel. I will not even give 1 star.|I worked in the hotel business and understood how the quality should be.||I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. I am very disappointed. I am very sorry to say that, but if I have a pig or a dog, I will not let him stay in this room.||I felt that we have been ripped off with what we have been charged. We arrived late at night, very exhausted tired and we didn't know the city well enough to find another place. We stayed in 2 rooms.||Please read this review before you book in this hotel. The pictures are misleading, like what...
Read moreI had a terrifying experience at MG Nefertiti that made me feel completely unsafe. At 2:00 AM, someone was trying to enter my room by force while I was sleeping. I woke up to the sound of the door being tampered with, started shouting loudly, but the person kept trying to get in. I immediately contacted the hotel, and they said it was a mistake. However, just a few minutes later, the same person returned and tried again! This time, a hotel staff member arrived and the intruder left.||The next day, the hotel made him check out early, but when I asked to speak to a manager, no one was available. When I finally got a call from a manager, all I got was a weak apology, blaming it on the receptionist’s mistake. What’s worse, there was no security at the hotel, and only one staff member was working the night shift—completely unacceptable for guest safety.||MG Nefertiti has serious security issues and lacks proper management. If you care about your safety and peace of mind, DO...
