I loved the scenery. The property was very peaceful and quiet. The property had security which makes a tourist feel more at ease. The staff was 10 stars, if possible. Very friendly, helpful, made themselves available when needed, they called to check on us and ask if we wanted to place an order for dinner before the kitchen closed. They were great! We enjoyed the pool as well. They even made themselves available after 10 at night when we got there late and they gave us directions into the property. Dislikes... The road into the property is a bit rough. I highly recommend a jeep or larger SUV. It is roughly a 45 min drive from the highway to the property and that is because the road is rough terrain of dirt, rock and holes so you have to go 5-10 mph to get there, and don't arrive at night because you will get lost. But after driving once during the day you will know the way. We came due to family emergency so we only were here for a few days and that was maybe 2-3 hours a day, but if you want a camping experience, which means no technology, limited amenities and you can remember that you are not at the 5 star Hilton, then you will love this place. We will definitely come back to this place but with a more equipped vehicle. Also, make sure you have, at the very least, a pen/paper along with GPS because we lost signal a couple of times so I would suggest writing down when/where to turn and how far to go, so you can remember because it is easy to get lost your 1st time. Thank you to the staff for your...
Read moreThis place would be close to impossible to get to without your own car because it is a long way from the main road with no transport available. It is situated within a huge cooperative that mainly grows sugar cane but also has plantains, cacao and other things. Getting to the hotel involves crossing 3 separate, monitored gates. The accommodation consists of individual 2-bedroom apartments and “tree houses” which are actually small 2-story buildings with the bed and toilet upstairs and bathroom downstairs. I stayed in an apartment. The bedroom was fairly crowded with 2 double beds but there was such a big common kitchen/dining area that it was no problem. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had ample hot water. The kitchen had everything you would need to self cater including microwave, stove, fridge and utensils. The accommodation was about a 10 minute walk from the water and the restaurant. There was a good swimming pool near the restaurant with lots of tables on the lawn beside it. Wifi was only available in the restaurant and there was also no phone network in the accommodation area. The restaurant served standard staples both western and Salvadorian. The most difficult thing was that it closed at 6pm so you either ate a very early dinner or had food prepared to take away. The staff would deliver to the accommodation if requested. In addition to the pool there were kayaks for hire and the hotel also offered a tour of the property’s cacao farm but the $30 cost was a bit steep for...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place but it just wasn’t for us. Maybe we were under prepared. We knew about the 7 mile dirt road so that wasn’t an issue. The room was clean and ac worked . The water smelled horrible though. We didn’t know until we were almost there that the restaurant closed at 5pm . We were able to order food and drinks to have delivered to our casa before they left for the night . The prices are also a little high for what they serve. We could’ve gone shopping at a tienda but it would’ve been about a 2 hour round trip ordeal that we didn’t want to do at night . Apparently a lot of people being their own food to cook? The casa came with a really nice grill but there are no utensils and you would need to bring a cooler w ice because there is no refrigerator . We were hoping to do a fishing tour but was told they don’t do that now. Which is partly my fault for not inquiring sooner than arrival. We did go to the monkey sanctuary and enjoyed that. I think if we were better prepared it would’ve been...
