Hotel Majahual Resort — Hotel in Municipio de La Libertad

First off, I get the vibe this is more like a locals getaway type resort. It’s located in an area I definitely wouldn’t say is tourist friendly. That being said, it’s literally a 2 minute walk from the Majahual beach. That beach IMO was infinitely better than El Tunco. The vibe is so chill. A lot of “ranchos” aka beach side restaurant/bars are nicely located next to the beach. FYI- You just walk thru them to access the beach. I thought you might need your purchase something but no, just walk straight into the beach.

The rooms are very spacious but BARE BONES. No comforter(not that you need it with the heat) and no room service unless requested. Just sheets, towels and some toiletries. Room was equipped with a powerful AC unit.

The hotel has a bar and restaurant and there is a complimentary breakfast included in your stay. The complimentary breakfast options are pretty basic but sufficient. They have a more extensive menu but we didn’t try any of it as we wanted to eat elsewhere.

The hotel has a beautiful climate controlled pool that is available to use until 11pm . It’s all one size so not really kid friendly unless they know hole to swim or have floaters.

Staff was super nice and helpful.

I live in the US and i booked this place thinking i was going to get what the pictures show.. unfortunately that was not the case dont get gaslighted by the photos they show the room my family and i got had a very bad smell specially in the bathroom like they simply did not care to clean. Water leaked into the room while there was a storm. It is located in not a good area and i absolutely do not recommend. I got charged $260 for two nights and for that amount of money i expected an amazing view amazing service amazing food and none of that was given, we stayed one night only and then we decided to leave. The owner told me he agreed for a refund but then changed his mind and denied it. Wish I could give better reviews as the staff is friendly. The room is beyond bare. No functional furniture. There’s not even a blanket, just a piece of bed sheet. Bathroom is disgusting. Toilet is full of yellow stains. There’s also no hot water.

There are parties at night that play extremely loud music until late. No response to complaints from staff. Absolutely no way for guests to rest at night.

It’s also far away from the surf town. The neighborhood is under development.
