I have been here 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years. This time I went for a couple of days just to relax, unwind and get inspired to finish one job.
"+" Great location. Friendly and courteous staff at the front desk, restaurant and bar. Delicious food in the restaurant. Clean room. A beautiful courtyard where you can drink delicious coffee under the pine trees with palm oil-free chocolate chip cookies prepared in the hotel kitchen. Good mood and atmosphere inside the building: birdsong, lots of plaques on the walls with historical facts, lots of places to sit and relax. Good saunas and swimming pool. Nice beach just a minute away. Amazing nature around. In summer, there are many mosquitoes near the building, but they are quite friendly and only slightly poisonous, so the bites pass very quickly compared to mosquitoes in Tallinn.
"-" Noisy. Usually I go to bed at 22:00, but at this place I managed to fall asleep only at 12:00, because while lying in bed I could hear other guests slamming their doors and stamping their feet. But when the whole house fell asleep, I could too. Wi-Fi in the room is very weak, so don't rely on it too much. The reception at the pool could sell flip flops because people sometimes forget theirs. In the room, it was impossible to wash your face in the bathroom sink, because there was this glass shelf in front. As a result, I spilled water around and wet my clothes. But maybe the designer thought that you just need to wash yourself in the toilet using a bidet shower? The secret remains. In the morning I suddenly woke up at 7 am and at first I could not understand why, when I suddenly heard some kind of roar and thought that the bombing had begun. Fortunately, it was just a garbage truck that smashed and broke metal containers near my window for 5 minutes. It was terrible, to be honest. For example, can these guys be scheduled a little later so they don't scare the hell out of sleeping customers? This is a resort, and people try to relax and unwind there. However...
...Summing up my experience. I rested a little and was generally relaxed, although on none of the nights of my stay I could not sleep properly due to the noisy environment (the building is a little old - but renovated! - the walls and doors are not very well soundproofed). Polite staff. Prices for rooms and food are reasonable. Good and beautiful place. Nice pool and saunas. Well thought out interior. Will definitely...
Read moreA beautiful hotel in a beautiful place, but a couple of shortcomings forced me to set relatively low grade. At first, there was practically no meat at the buffet lunch - only a few very small pieces of meat were left on the bottom of sauce box, the rest was out. In addition, the seminar room was too hot for working. Also the hotel room was hot - there was probably no air conditioner and the room window was possible to open only by some centimeters. It did not allow to get enough fresh air at night in order to cool down the hotel room for sleeping. I was forced to work late evening in hot hotel room and also sleep in hot hotel room at night which left my sleep quality on a very low level. In my humble opinion this price class of hotel could have either normal (adjustable) air conditioning possibilities or properly (widely) openable windows. And at last, there were no big towels in hotel room - some small towels which were available in hotel rooms, were not enough for proper drying after showering.
Read moreThis place gets two stars solely for its beachfront location. Everything else is lacking. Check in was easy. The room keys are old fashioned keys on a long wooden keyring. The rooms are very basic. No fridge, no air conditioning, no fan. We were told at checkout that we could have asked for fans at reception, but come on, who knows to do that? It would have been better if the hotel let us know about the fan situation at check in, and asked us if we wanted one. The hotel restaurant service was slow and soulless. The three young girls working there were disinterested at best. We had to wait around for someone to clean up the table after the previous guests before we could sit down, even after we mentioned it to the waitress. The food came pretty quick. A couple of dishes were missing, and when I asked the waitress about them she said "I only have two hands". The response could have been more polite. Young and slow restaurant staff do not make for a good image for this hotel. The food was nothing special, but the prices were cheap enough to not care about it. The pool/sauna area was very basic. OK sized hot tub, small pool, very basic saunas. Nothing special at all. I'm pretty sure that the buffet breakfast at the hotel was set up so that people eat as little as possible to save the hotel money. The plates are TINY, and you have to make multiple trips to the buffet area if you're planning on eating multiple things because they just won't fit on your plate. There are no trays to carry the plates to the table. The coffee was watered down, the yolk in the hard boiled eggs had that nasty gray ring around it. The crepes were pretty good actually, so was the selection of teas. All around a very basic uneventful stay, and for almost 80 euros a night definitely...
