This was my first stay with Hestia Hotels. Me and my partner were staying there to celebrate our anniversary in a quiet and relaxing place. This day was anything but relaxing. When we were checking in the receptionist seemed to be in a great rush. She didn’t really try to converse with me and we were checked in within 3 minutes. We took the keys and headed to the third floor using the elevator. The elevator was very old and should be replaced but I didn’t make any assumptions based on that. We went to our room 1325 and when we first opened the door we only noticed the size of the room. The room is rather small but can be cozy. We put our jackets and bags away and started to settle in. Thats when horror stroke upon us. The bathroom sink had hairs in it, the floor was dirty and had not been vacuumed, there were hairs on the bed. We examined them just to make sure that they did not belong to us. Me and my partner are both blondes and those were some dark hairs. We then looked at the balcony and noticed that the curtain had a burn hole in it. We understood that somebody might have had an accident with their cigarette but what we saw on the curtains next was disgusting. There was a stain that looked like vomit and also many other questionable stains. I immediately called the reception and told them what was going on. On the phone I spoke the the guy who was working the shift with the girl. He was able to get out a small and very fake apology and promised that a housekeeper will be re-cleaning the room. We then put our things away and went to the spa. We did inform the receptionist about everything that should have been fixed in that room. When we got back from the rather relaxing and nice spa we had to be disappointed once again. The room floor was very poorly vacuumed, the sticky stains from the windowsill had been removed halfway. The housekeeper had cleaned up the big sticky stain from the desk but I sure it‘s because of the big note I had stuck on it. The hairs had been cleaned up too but it really was a quick and lazy re-cleaning. Those rooms are very outdated and need some renovations. We tried to make the best of our vacation but I will never recommend this hotel to my acquaintances. The most shocking thing to me is that Hestia Hotel‘s promises that all rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each guest. We have a difficult time at our hands and I really didn’t expect to have a problem like this. We some how made the best of our night and I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious breakfast. They could add some things to the menu but otherwise it was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. I will not be returning to this hotel and will not visit other Hestia hotels. Stay safe and make sure the place for your stay ensures...
Read moreI've given this hotel 1 star because 0 stars isn't an option. Be warned; if you look through the reviews, you'd see that most are for the chef restaurant; the hotel's quality is much lower and its low star reviews (even the older ones) are relevant to this day.
My wife & I came for a 2-nights stay with our dog, expecting a 4star hotel level room and services. The hotel claimed to be pet friendly but the truth is that they don't mind a dog in their low-grade rooms but are not prepared for it.
The room we received (1125) looked like a youth hostel crib, and was cleaned appropriately, with smudges of black goop and dirt welcoming us. The toilet seat was also filthy. The ac was broken (and has apparently been for a long time if you check past hotel reviews) but the hotel's official stance is that "the heat is stronger than the ac can handle". I've visited hotels in summer countries of up to 40°c with AC's twice as old and more functional. The corridors right outside the rooms were very cooled down, too.
But the worst part for us dog owners is that the door was outward opening, light and unlockable from the outside. The dog could easily open it from the inside and escape. (If we decided to leave him inside, in the unbearable heat.)
The reception did not find us any solutions, they offered us to change to a room in the shaded part of the building with the same type of door. Then offered we lean an object on the door, as if that would solve the problem.
It was evening at that point, and instead of trying to get out of their way to help their customers (either by finding us a better room for the pet or thinking of something else they could do for us), they just kept repeating the same non-solutions and excuses. They even claimed that all their rooms' doors are the same so giving us a different room wouldn't help. Their final stance was to give us the money back and let us become someone else's problem.
We had to spend the end of the day frantically looking for a pet-friendly place to sleep on an hour's notice, while sitting inside an oven of a room with a suffering pet, instead of enjoying the spa.
The hotel did not apologize for our inconvenience throughout the entire incident and did not try to offer any other compensations for our trouble. The receptionist did say she hoped to see us again soon,...
Read moreWe have taken family room package with dinner, when we went for a prepaid dinner it turned out that we have to stand in a line to make an order, so while hungry husband and kids were not enjoying their time I was in the queue for 30mns, at the desk it turned out that 75% of chosen food was not available (and noone told us before, we actually had to hunt for the menu as nobody wanted to locate is to the table or to bring the menu (which is a different one for the packages), and when I have found the serving lady and she gave the menu, she told nothing regarding the dishes that are unavailable tonight), it was a three course dinner, we were waiting for another 30mns, and from the time we came it was 1,5h, by that time I was googling nearby places where to eat, and we were twice asking for the starters at least, we were really hungry as we had come from the swimming pool there and didn’t expect that for the prepaid package you have to wait ages, nevertheless waiters brought starters and main course at the same time. Food was good, can’t say that it was worth waiting as we were hungry and angry as hell by that time, also missed an opportunity to get back to spa zone. Hotell workers were telling that they’re sorry multiple times, that they had full booking, couple of groups there, but I can’t take this as an excuse, why should I or my family care for understaffed shift, especially when the administration saw the groups and full booking… Breakfast was good. But when we went to spa zone in the morning we were told that after checkout time the full charge for spa will apply for being there even if we come before the checkout and will spend just half and hour longer. First time I have heard of such practice and after even called to top5 spa hotels in the country to check if they have same rules but they luckily don’t which gives them plus to karma and to La Spa huge minus, as I just wanted to have a good family time but in fact had to wait, argue and see disappointed faces of kids...
