I had the displeasure of staying at the HERA Hotel during a layover, and it was an absolute nightmare. Where do I even begin?
Firstly, the food served was appalling. Not only was it tasteless, but there was an alarming amount of food waste evident throughout the dining area.
The towels provided were dirty and clearly hadn't been washed properly. And don't even get me started on the supposed Wi-Fi connection - it was non-existent. Zero bars, zero connection, zero service.
The overall service at this hotel was a disaster. Staff seemed indifferent to guests' needs and were nowhere to be found when assistance was required.
To make matters worse, the water had a strange taste to it, which was highly off-putting. And as for basic amenities like air conditioning and hot water? Forget about it. Neither were functioning properly.
The bedspread was filthy, and the entire hotel seemed to be located in a slum-like area within Ethiopia. This alone should raise serious concerns about safety and hygiene standards.
In summary, the HERA Hotel is a disgrace. Ethiopian Airlines should immediately cease using this establishment for layovers before it tarnishes their reputation...

The hotel has guards. ||The WiFi is really good.||We had dinner a couple of times in the hotel which was also good. ||The only downside is that all the noise travels through the building because of the hard floors.|People walking the stairs and talking can be heard in the room. ||When I go back to Addis I will definitely go back to...
Read moreIn short, Ethiopian Airlines should stop booking passengers in this substandard hotel. The hotel is located in an area that can be characterised as a slum town. I tried venturing out once and i was ordered back into the hotel because the area is not safe for visitors. The bed made some loud squeaky sounds and I could hear the same sounds coming from the room above me. Please replace the sheets - they now look terrible. The bathroom is in even worse condition. There was water all over the floor. There was no hot water in the bathroom. The bathroom towels have seen their better days. Before I forget, the food was terrible - I stayed at the hotel for 48 hours and I only enjoyed the 'chicken leg' which was the only tasty meal served during my stay. Otherwise, everything else tasted terrible. Ethiopian Airlines, you can do...
