Grand Resort And Spa,Gambella — Hotel in Gambela Region

In one word terrible...||Staff are not terribly helpful. In fat they are completely unwilling to help or give a decent service ... they firstly checed me into an already occupied room that smelled of an unflushed toilet (they sent me to Room 115 while previous guest’s things were there and the bed was unmade) a disturbing start but then they gave me Room 111.||Terrible does not begin to describe it. The toilet sink leaks all over the floor every time you try to wash your hand. Expect to have your shoes to ge wet if you want to wash your face, brush your teeth and wash your hands. The toilet is so close to the wall you have to stick your upper body to the wall while using it and the toilet seat is long gone. Disgusting is a possible word from the whole bathroom as no effort has been made on the finishing. Thee is an incomplete ceiling and the shower for what it’s worth is a shower head with one water handle which does not properly work.||Now let’s come to the promise of an air conditioner. It’s 40 degreee Celsius and they have purposely disconnected the rooms from the generator to save fuel. The window in this room does not open. It gets hot fast and you have no option but to open your door. Because everyone wants to sleep with their door open right?||Even if the air conditioning worked the bed is away from the fan and the fan does not work too well and groans every minute or so.||The towels are old, the sheets are discoloured. The chairs are filthy...||Finally what resort or spa are they even talking about? I don’t see anything remotely resembling a pool or a spa. Or anything at all resort like in this misconceived construction. ||Finally the food was unapetising. In Ethiopia you can’t go wrong with Tibs anywhere except in this place. Even their Tibs is not terribly good and that is simply fried meat. ||Again TERRIBLE! Never again woild I even remotely consider staying here.||One penultimate point of contention for me was that they never gave me the WiFi code if they even have it.||Finally they can’t even apologise when I am standing at reception asking them...

This is Ethiopia, the room was clean enough, but the bathroom was disgusting, there was fecal matter on the floor, the toilet leaked at the floor, the water didn't work in the morning and the generator only powers the lobby when the power is out which is often. The main floor lobby is absolutely filthy, the table cloths were disgusting, bugs crawling all over the food stained linen. All of the hotel linens are the color of dirt and it's hard to know if they have been cleaned at all. The staff were edgy, one young man sneered at me as I was leaving / checking out because we had paid with Expedia but the hotel didn't honour and required a cash payment. A mistake on our dinner bill where we charged for an item they didn't have took 6 people to review and they still wouldn't adjust so I just paid what I thought was fair and left the table. Challenge is...this is as good as it gets in Gambella - just lower your expectations, travel with a flashlight and your own towel and sheet. Bring a hot spot too - internet is...

There is No worse hotel experience in Gambella let alone Ethiopia.||The servers mean no harm but that does not mean service is even close to being good.||Check in is painful. They make mistakes. You complain, they can’t help.||The bathroom is appalling. Unhygienic and disgusting, broken down with all sorts of leaks from the toilet and the sink.||Air conditioning is a bit of an overstatement. When the hotel is on a generator the rooms are manually disconnected from it, so in 40 degree Celsius heat, you are stuck in a rapidly heating room with no openable window or air conditioning. In any case the machine does not work too well.||As a previous reviewer put it... not grand, not a spa and not a resort... not a good choice either.||Food pretty damn...
