Haile Resort is located in Hawassa city, Ethiopia. It is situated beautifully at the shore of Lake Hawassa. • Standard: This hotel is nice and very clean. The owner is Gebre Haileselase and he seems to value quality. The rooms are fairly large, and all have balcony view. I visited Hawassa for a full week and enjoyed Haile Resort for the duration of my stay. The staff is friendly and competent. They smile a lot, which makes the guests feel welcome - especially the chef : ) • Good food: A nice and varied breakfast is included in the room rate. The first two days I ate only traditional Ethiopian foods moring, lunch and evening. It was a delight. The national dish her is «doro wott with indjera» (se picture). This is both very tasty and filling. Ethiopian cooking as a famous history for spices, and this is evident at Haile Resort. I personally recommend to try Haile Special Juice, which is a blended juice from local produce, with fresh ginger added. It is rich in tast and good for your health. I also like their dinner buffet, which contains several Ethiopian dishes, varied from evening to evening. If you would like other alternatives, the hotel carry a nice ala cart menu. • Logistics: The most convenient means of transport is the «Bajaj», the three wheel vehicle you find everywhere here. From the resort to the city center og foot of mount Tabor, you should not have to pay more than ca 100 Birr. Please remember to agree on the price (don’t be afraid to haggle, it is part of the fun) before you enter the bajaj. Traffic in Hawassa is interesting, so you may want to rent a Land Cruiser from one of the many companies that offer safari or sight seeing. There is a huge national park north of Hawassa, Abidjatta-Shalla National Park. Many tourist like to see the special landscape and its varied wildlife. • Summary: I have enjoyed my stay here at Haile Resort, despite a few minor offs. It is smart to visit here before the peak season, during November, December and first part of January. And make sure to taste Ambo water. My massage therapist, Tsay, provided one of the most relaxing massages I’ve ever had, addressing all my stress points with remarkable skill.
