BULA!! Our stay at Coral View Resort in Fiji was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks in large part to the incredible team that made us feel like family throughout our entire visit. Moses and Maree deserve all the accolades in the world for their exceptional hospitality and wealth of knowledge, without which our trip would have been far less exciting.
From the moment we arrived, Moses and Maree welcomed us with open arms, treating us not as guests but as long-lost friends. Their warmth and genuine care enriched our experience beyond measure. They should be given a raise or shares in the resort because Coral View would simply not be the same without their dedication.
Maciu (Matthew) - another gem of the team, made us feel so welcomed and cared for that we jokingly wanted to take him home with us! His infectious enthusiasm and unwavering attention to detail ensured that every moment of our stay was filled with comfort and delight.
Now, let's talk about the breathtaking natural wonders of Coral View. The corals here are absolutely stunning, making snorkeling an absolute must-do. The blue lagoon beach and fish feeding were among our top experiences, providing a glimpse into the vibrant marine life that surrounds the resort. Moses also took us on an unforgettable trip to the Sawailau Cave, an adventure we'll cherish forever.
Speaking of snorkeling, the reef just off the beach is a hidden gem. We ventured out to visit the giant clam, and to our delight, we stumbled upon another stunning green large clam. The underwater world at Coral View is truly a paradise for nature enthusiasts.
However, it's important to note that the resort is currently under renovations. The bures are basic, and we did encounter issues with the hot water, which was lukewarm at best. It's a small hiccup in an otherwise incredible experience, but something to bear in mind.
If you plan to bring snacks, opt for non-perishables as the bar fridges can be a bit temperamental. Definitely bring more bottles of water though! Any leftovers you have, pop in the handwoven basket you make and give it back to them as a gift - We had so much! Also, don't forget to take the sea bus to the resort, and remember that the fare is one way only.
A special mention must be made about the compulsory meal plans at Coral View Resort. Let us tell you, the serving sizes were absolutely enormous, and every bite was bursting with deliciousness! The chefs (Carlo and Ru) at the resort are nothing short of amazing, and their culinary creations left us in awe. My wife couldn't get enough of the ice-cream, and she swears it's the best she's ever had. It was the perfect sweet treat to cool down in the Fijian sun. As for me, I have to give a shoutout to the coleslaw—it was incredibly fresh and simply divine. Every dish we enjoyed felt like it was made with love and care.
To top off our unforgettable stay, we had the pleasure of sharing some Kava with the hardworking and friendly staff on our last night. It was a heartwarming experience that added an extra layer of connection to this already incredible journey.
Our stay at Coral View Resort was a dream come true. The outstanding team, including the three amigos - Moses, Maree, and Maciu, turned a beautiful location into an unforgettable experience. The natural beauty of the coral reefs and the adventures they offer are a must for any traveler. Despite the renovations and minor inconveniences, we wholeheartedly recommend Coral View for an authentic Fijian getaway.
We left with full hearts and satisfied appetites, ready to cherish the memories of our time in this tropical paradise 🌴🐟🐚🌅🌺🤗🦀🐢🍹🥥🛖🦋🍨🪸

Read moreMy girlfriend, brother and I stayed at Coralview for 3 nights in early July and were disappointed with several aspects of the resort. Firstly, there were numerous hidden costs and important resort features we were unaware of until arriving on the island. We were given no option but to pay for the meal plan (FJD$85 per day for 3 meals a day and afternoon tea). We asked if this could be modified to 2 meals a day as we’d stocked up on fruit and snacks from the markets before leaving. We planned on having this for breakfast which would also enable us greater flexibility around timing our morning activities. The managers would not budge and sadly much of our fruit was uneaten and went bad. Before agreeing to pay the meal plan, we confirmed that at least we would be provided a second serving for meals if we desired. They agreed that this would be provided which was a lie. Every time we asked for a second serving the request was denied. The food itself wasn’t great, some meals were ok but others rather disappointing.
Another issue was that there was to be no hot water provided in the rooms. This was not highlighted when booking the resort and was particularly disappointing for my brother who had been doing volunteer work in a remote Fijian village for a month with no hot water and was looking forward to a vacation with warm showers. They wouldn’t budge when we highlighted we should be provided a discount for the lack of warm water, they wouldn’t even provide us a free lunch on our last day (which we would have to pay for before leaving the island).
Another disappointing element of the stay was the first night when kept up all night by mosquitoes. There is a gap between the walls and roof allowing free passage for the insects. The next evening we asked for a mosquito coil to deter them and this worked well. Perhaps it would be a good idea for them to warn of the mosquitoes and provide mosquito coils before an uncomfortable first night (other guests also mentioned their disrupted sleeps due to this issue). Another few issues were that the door to our bathroom didn’t shut and no house cleaning was provided during the stay.
The last issue was the unfriendly nature of the senior staff. One of the big draw cards for visiting Fiji is the friendly culture but sadly the managers have not bought into this culture, often not greeting us and they didn’t seem overly eager to help. The rest of the staff were great and we loved getting to know several of them, (Jimmy, Sai and Matilda to name a few). They were extremely helpful and always eager to have a fun time! Another major benefit of the island is the snorkelling. The biodiversity and colours on the reef were exceptional. We also loved getting to know the other guests staying at the resort and hearing all about their adventures.
TLDR: resort is caught between providing a luxury island getaway with an island...
Read moreThought we got a good price on accommodation until we got there... Place looks derelict, there are abandoned constructions, excavators in the middle of the grounds, reinforcing wire sticking out everywhere, piles of old tires and rubbish piles right next to the main building, and the decking is falling apart. The sandy beach in front of the resort is only about 10 meters long next to the man made harbor. The compulsory meal plan is $90 per person but the lunch options were dismal! the chicken chowman was more salty then sea water. breakfast is cereal packet, caned fruit and an egg. WiFi is a ripoff at $18 per hour or $40 per day, and you can not break it up once you login. Showers are a horrible salty water, gravity fed (no pressure), with horrible fittings so it fills like two small mice are taking a pee on you. there is free drinking water at the bar. Volleyball court is on dirt/grass with some rocks (no diving). Snorkeling is tricky due to very strong currents during the tides, but there is a boat assisted 1 hour free trip each day which includes mask and snorkel. The $30 trip to the next island has the smallest reef I have ever seen, but there is lots of fish there because everyone feeds them. Workers were nice for the most part. Worst of all were the mosquitoes! more then we encountered anywhere else in Fiji, and real nasty too, I have not had this kind of allergic reactions to mozies before, massive swellings 10 cm big. Our child still has large swollen welts on her hands and face 2 weeks later!!! (edit: 3 weeks still has dark spots) Our accommodation seemed to have nets on windows but they still got in. We had to ask for one mosquito net and use one we brought to get some sleep at night. Also no child seats, no baby cot, no baby food, but nappies were available from the shop. We could not stay for the full period of the booking and left...
