We hadn’t travelled since Covid it was a combination of celebrations for us, my husbands 50th birthday was in May, our 23rd Wedding Anniversary as well as our Daughter’s 21st Birthday which was only 2 weeks before and I was having my 53rd Birthday at Kokomo. |Where do I start, if I could give this 11/10 I would. |My family and I have travelled all over the world and stayed in a lot of beautiful resorts. It has been almost 17 years since we have visited Fiji. |I booked 8 nights at Kokomo to spend some bonding time as a family. We have identical twin sons that are 19 and a daughter as mentioned who is 21. My husband and I were at the mind set this could be our last “family” holiday without partners etc |I couldn’t have asked for more, or wished for more it was wonderful. From the moment we arrived at the hanger in the waiting lounge with a glass of champs. Michael our helicopter pilot was terrific, pointing out all the resorts, surfing breaks and reefs that in itself was a great start. We were taken to the main lounge area at the “Beachshack” and what a welcome greeting with all the staff singing to us. Dan showed us to our sunset 3 brm villa that just exceeded my expectations, I knew from the photos it was going to be stunning but I got quite emotional it was just perfect. The views were breathtaking and you walk straight out from your villa and go snorkelling as the reef is just out the front. The following day was my birthday after a huge breakfast, (you won’t go hungry here) the food is just delicious and spoilt for choices and my sons in particular loved the all day dining it’s not just burgers there is steak and crab linguine or you can have food delivered from one of the 3 restaurants too if you prefer to stay in. We had our 45min massages that were included with our stay. | Dan amd Miriam organised my birthday dinner that was so special the table set up with fresh flowers in our beachfront villa which I wanted was next level. The attention to detail, I had shown Dan my wedding photos an hour before dinner and he noticed in the photos I had Frangipani lei on so he arranged a Frangipani lei for me, Miriam organised Lei the photographer to take some beautiful family photos and let’s not forget my birthday coconut cake just topped it off. They also had a waitress to serve all our favourite food to us for the evening , a big thank you to the chefs Andy for the amazing seafood and Caroline for thd tasty curry don’t miss Monday curry night. Dan and staff came back to sing a beautiful happy birthday song to me after we had dinner, I will remember my 53rd birthday for the rest of my life. |Kava night was another special moment some more bonding, as I sat back watching my family laughing, singing and drinking kava. |Our sons joined in a game of touch footy with the boys from Baywatch, again so much fun. Stephen who organised a cocktail making class activity which we enjoyed so much. I made a cocktail that night at the managers cocktail evening they named it after me the Madonnacello which you must try when you visit Kokomo. Grant the manager who took us around the island for a private tour was wonderful to take time out of his day showed us some of the stunning residences which if your coming with extended family highly recommend booking. There was Oscar the trainer who made exercising a joy every morning at 8am at the gym. I have never exercised whilst on holidays but just enjoyed it so much and went almost everyday 6/8. My skinny lattes every morning…Jagur the worlds best fisherman who took my sons and husband out had the most amazing shark and fishing trip expierence. Special mention to all the staff at Beach shack and Walkdplanc that kept the food coming out to feed my sons who just kept eating. Caroline you are the worlds best chef and loved your dishes especially the Kokoda , I hold the record for eating 3 tsunami bowls. This place is paradise but what makes it really special is all of the staff with their genine warm friendly big beautiful smiles greeting us to “Bula” from the gardeners who cut me a fresh coconut, chefs, waitresses, cleaners, engineers, Baywatch and marine staff to shop assistant to spa staff just anyone we came in contact with. Oh, I didn’t mention that you get your laundry and ironing done everyday too that is pure bliss never have I ever stayed where they have a laundry basket in your room you come back it’s all folded and ironed at no extra costs all included, thank you to the laundry staff. The list just goes on, I will miss all the staff each and everyone of you thank you all so much from the bottom of heart for making my family holiday magical, I leave with a heavy heart but you have given me memories to treasure for the rest of my life. I do plan to come back one day, maybe Xmas next year. I really felt spoilt, you don’t have to be a celebrity or famous actor/actress as everyone is treated the same. |Can’t thank you all enough, it’s not good bye but see you later.|Truly this is one of the best resorts you will find anywhere in the world! |Madonna, Tim, Tara, Kane and Cory |The Delaney...

Read moreKokomo Private Island is a rare and unique gem and an unspoiled true slice of paradise. It was a gift for our family to visit and stay here for 12 days. It’s the place you go to peel away stress, tune out the world and focus on relaxation and enjoyment. We also had some inner healing needs and Kokomo PI was the perfect place for this. ||It took us 10 hours on Fiji Airways from LAX and just 45 minute flight from Nadi by private jet. The water plane to Kokomo and the landing over the gorgeous shades of blue sea was so thrilling. From planes to island the experience just kept getting better and better by the minute! ||The fantastic staff ushers you in with music, singing, smiles, fresh coconut water and tour. So fun and welcoming! Our 11 family members commented over and over again on how lovely and extra special the staff was day in and day out. Truly they are the friendliest on Earth with such impeccable customer service. They ALL went above and beyond to make certain we were happy and had everything we needed. Bula takes on a whole new meaning here. The team sincerely wanted to make our stay the best and we felt it every day. There are simply too many staff members to thank by name here and I feel it’s unfair to only list a few. So very thankful to them ALL for an outstanding job that felt like we made true heartfelt connections. |The island itself is so very beautiful and the waters are gorgeous, clear, clean and full of natural wonders. The ocean is the source of daily beauty and abundance here at Kokomo. So many activities available. Our family did many snorkeling, diving and sailing excursions. Mantas, whales, octopus, small reef sharks, hammerheads and colorful tropical fish were spotted. We were completely spellbound by the marine life and hours spent in the ocean.stand up paddling and kayaking, too. ||The grounds and landscaping are rich, colorful and full of bright plants, flowers and trees. So many birds and even fruit bats at night. Each stroll I took there were many things to see like the organic gardens, the yoga pavilion view and sunrise by the helicopter landing is something you don’t want to miss. The island layout was easy to navigate and there are golf carts to pick you up when needed. You may walk or ride by cart anywhere on the island. |The villas are large, lovely and well maintained with serenity in mind. We used our villa pool daily, but spent more time swimming in the ocean and walking the beach. Such comfortable beds! Daily house keeping, drinks and waters, turn down service and pampering Pure Fiji products were so fabulous. |The food is fresh, delicious and plentiful. The island is about connecting with the Fijian culture and relaxing into it. We felt the restaurants were naturally on point with the way of Kokomo. Each had a unique atmosphere and laid back island vibe setting. They each had a daily menu with tasty dishes and interesting specials. There was a curry night, Italian night, Mediterranean and Asian night as well. A great variety and so tasty, yet quaint and kept more intimate and one-of-a-kind by the chefs and cooking teams. No big over the top type restaurants here. Think smaller, family style and intimate. Let’s just say, the restaurant & bar teams rocked….you know who you are and we loved it! |There is a smaller but ample gym and many classes at the activity center for adults and children. Many sports and fitness classes. I particularly either basket weaving, flower arranging, yoga, private gym training and painting class. Many beach & water activities. |Our family did a two private group events. One was a Kava ceremony on the beach which was very special at sunset. It’s something not to be missed and part of The Fijian way of life. We also made a birthday party on the beach and arranged for a special extravaganza meal, drinks and entertainment of fire dancers. Words cannot actually describe this event and evening for our family. The beach, the sunset, the atmosphere, attention to detail, gorgeous menu and fantastic entertainment was over the top. We felt like we were in a dream. Kokomo can help your group make magical events like this possible. |Last but not least there is a wonderful small spa and we had massage and other spa treatments to complete our healing and wellness journey while on the island. Ahhh!|Like on any island, do bring sunscreen lotion, mosquito repellent, and medicine for stomach. Mosquitos did get some of us, but not excessively. If you are the type that mosquitos usually go for (like myself when I go to Mexico, The Caribbean and tropical places) use spray repellent as needed. A very small inconvenience of nature, mosquito spray works….shower off later before bed. |Truly, my review cannot express the gratitude and appreciation my family and I have for Team Kokomo Private island. We loved our vacation and all the people there. We will return to...
