We stayed overnight in this "good reputation accommodation" just before the best season. They had two "Standard Twin Room" and one "Standard Twin Room with a Seaside" left. We decided to take the seaside room (12€ extra - totaling 164€). They asked if it bothers us that that one of the two reading lights was broken and we relied that is is not a big task. What we got was (a spacey) room with no other light than one working reading light - nothing else. Ok we had our headlamps - no problem. Then we faced another problem. Whenever any neighbor had a shower, or when they flushed the toilet, a disgusting sewer smell surrounded us. We were obligated to open the window (with the german car key). And then we enjoyed the company of the mosquitos. I guess it is needless to say that there was no air conditioning in the room. If anything positive, the clerks on the reception were polite. One even gave us a candle to fade away the disgusting smell (she deserves a credit). ||Else? The breakfast was rock bottom on our ten-day / ten different and differently priced accommodation trip in Åland. Cold porridge, overcooked eggs, and yesterday's bread to mention some. When leaving this place, the poor reception had to take all our complaints, while the head (owner?) of the place, slipped quietly into the distance, and took no responsibility to this case. This place is definitely not worth the asked price - no matter how nice the scenery is.||P.S. Even the sheets in our room...
Read moreThe hotel, restaurant and marina are located in a very picturesque spot on the Kökar island. Hotel is cozy and nice (and the only one on the island) , but for such high prices you would expect a bit more. Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated but very very basic. There's no TV, nor fridge in the room (a communal fridge and tea making facilities on the corridor, though), no air conditioning, not even a fan. Curtains hardly cover the windows and at least in our room only the largest window had any kinds of blackout curtains.|The standard rooms without seaview face the parking lot and the quiet main road of the island (described on the website as the courtyard æ inner court).|Investing a bit more in the rooms could justify the high prices but at their current state they are overpriced.|Food in the restaurant is good and the atmosphere and views are lovely. Breskfast is rather basic and in busy times it gets easily crowded as the buffet tables are in a small room against a wall. They should be placed in the largest room of the restaurant - especially at these times to enable people to keep their safety distances.|The island itself is worth the visit, the hotel too, especially with a bit more effort to paying attention to the details (if they want to live up to the...
Read moreOur second stay in this hotel and restaurant, this time four nights. Rooms are spacious and clean with exemplary bathrooms. No room service during these days but it didn't bother us at all. Actually we expecting it to be in this way. Last year we were the only travellers but this time we became accompanied by several others ... even from abroad. ||Breakfast was delicious and comprehensive. Nothing to complain about. With good food one gets in good humour and receives everything needed for long birding tours on various bird watching platforms and -tower built on island during last year. ||We ate our anniversary dinner at the restaurant of this hotel and enjoyed about delicious food: goat cheese sallad as a starter, fried perch with new potatoes and other vegetables with white gravy. For the dessert we chose fried Camembert with vanilla ice cream. All three courses were delight for eyes and for taste buts....
