DO NOT GO TO THIS CAMPSITE!!! The place is lovely but the owner is an aggressive thug. We turned up as a family of 4 with young children on bikes. We couldn't find anyone to check in so we stopped to have a bit to eat. But then this guy turned up rodeo style in his car, approached us in a threatening manner, was aggressive and marched me to reception to pay. I was feeling shaken and very uncomfortable. But then later he came back and threw us out. He said that apparently we'd only paid to occupy the space for a few hours !!!?? He started taking our bicycles to throw them and started taking our tent down. When I objected he started pushing me around. Bear in mind I'm only a small woman. My children were scared and crying. That didn't stop him. He kicked us out at 6 in the evening and refused to give our money back. This man is a thief and an aggressive thug. We considered reporting him to the police but it's complicated when you don't speak the language. Never in my life have I been treated like this after having been camping all over the world all my life. I am still shaken...
Read moreFisketorpet camping is a place like no other. So beautiful and peaceful. However, a downside was the cleanliness of the cabins. We found mouse droppings in our cabin, and although we were given a new cabin after I complained, when I asked for a small discount for all the trouble, the owner showed no sense of fairness. |Our cabin was also unbearably hot. Of course, it was July and the heat was at its peak, but if there had been fans in the cabins, it would have made a big difference. We had two babies under the age of one with us, so the heat was not only uncomfortable for the adults but also quite tough on the babies.||There were also a few rats running around the area, which was quite unpleasant. Such a shame, because it’s otherwise such a beautiful place. ||All in all, I can recommend staying at Fisketorpet Camping — the area was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen — as long as you’re prepared for the fact that the cabins are not very clean and there are rats running around the area.||It is also worth noting that the owner was quite an...
Read moreMy friends and I did an impromptu road trip to the Åland Islands from Helsinki. We booked two cottages with breakfast for two nights on a weekend. The cottages were surprisingly roomy with enough beds for even a bigger group of adventurers. Everything was clean and tidy, kitchens came with pots and pans, utensils, a small stove/oven, and a big fridge. There is a small grocery store a short drive away where we bought snacks and sausages for grilling. ||We also booked two different saunas. They came with a wood burning stove that gave off a lovely, smooth heat. Timing the sauna for the sunset was a great idea: we got to cool off by swimming in the sea while the soft, orange sunlight was at its best. Highly recommend experiencing this for yourself!||Overall the atmosphere around the cabins, the reception and the rocky beach was enjoyable and authentic to what our image of the archipelago was. The owner is available and present with funny stories and warm, helpful energy. His dog was also a real goofball and readily...
