Our family with two small kids spent three nights here on vacation and overall everything was pretty ok. Best: SPA and nature. Worst: Restaurants and service. The SPA was very good. There were plenty of different pools such as a baby pool (20s cm deep), kids pool (~60 cm deep), jacuzzi, therapy pool, cold water pools (+4°C), outdoor pool and swimming pool. SPA's mens' side has three different Saunas. SPA was clean and spacious. Nature around the hotel is beautiful! Excellent walking paths, kids' playground, horse stalls nearby, golf course next to the hotel, beautiful scenery etc. The hotel is very spacious, kids loved to run on aisles. There's also an in-house green garden which is quite unique. However, the restaurants and service in general were poor. The staff seems to be very busy / scarce resources. Staff in the evening restaurant was running to get all customers served, beef on the burgers were way overcooked, don't expect value for the money. Cafe Karlsberg next to the SPA. We had no idea that there's a ala carte menu since the staff keeps the menu under the counter. And when you ask for it you can see that the staff gets mad... Btw, you can find the menu in one of the photos if you can't find it in the cafe 😆 Only in Finnish though. Rooms were neat and quiet, beds were comfortable.

Standard room with balcony: Our room has been spacious, but dated. It is ok for a couple of days. The 2 single beds have been comfortable for us. Free bathrope but no slippers. Our room has been very close to the spa/kylpylä which was perfect. We had the room and balcony to the sunset/golf court side. It just was beautiful, but no lake view. I have been at this hotel many times, so here some tips: The standard rooms are usually dated and spotted more to the parking or golf area with no lake views. Cheap but spacious and with bath ropes. I like the standard rooms with balcony. You may have a little lake views. These rooms are usually lower level. Superior rooms are more higher level with better views to the lake, with coffee and tea. Still these are out dated. Standard plus are the new refreshed rooms, higher level with fantastic views. Staff has always been very friendly. We always love the spa. Nice warm water, fast water-slide, little pool outside, resting places outside, little pool bar. Breakfast is Finnish standard. Beautiful nature around. We just love this hotel, even if the standard rooms are a bit outdated.

Hotel simply had its best days some decades ago, it’s just not great anymore. Don’t come here with high expectations. It is still a lovely place to spend a few days, explore the area, bike, hike, swim, climb, visit castle and museums. But the hotel doesn’t worth its price, that’s for sure. We suffered from the heat, during the afternoon and at night it was the worst in the room, since there’s no air conditioning (we doubt if there was any proper ventilation at all). Breakfast is basic (though there were quite some options, but still, everything was very basic and not delicious unfortunately). The room and hotel overall has a lot of usage, bad smells in some places. Staff was friendly (mostly), but not very helpful (we were asking about free city boats, it’s mentioned as activity on the hotel website, and we were advised to google it because receptionist didn’t know where these are located). Spa is small, old, used, not very clean. Though the location was appreciated by us, also big free parking and views around, these were just beautiful

The spa and hotel customers are mainly families with children. And all the nose and chaos that comes with this kind of lifestyle is brought to the premises of Scandic Aulanko. Atmosphere: A time capsule of an old age and some playground on the side. Understaffed and abandoned.

The room had old/outdated furnitures and the sockets were located at inconvenient places, when you consider that one wants to charge a mobile phone. The room cleaning is non existent and the floor was sticky. The view from the room was a parking lot. The wall were paper thin and you could hear everything e.g footsteps, regular talking, kids running, drunken yelling. Although a spa hotel the slippers are not included in the room price. The dinner at the hotel's restaurant was a joke. The menu mainly consisted of burgers and not any special ones. The other options were beef, salmon and Caesar's salad. So not suited for people who wish to eat healthy. The gym-room as called, is just placed there to check a box on someone's checklist and not for people to workout. Random gym equipment installed in a small room. Kuntohuone ✅. The breakfast buffet has a bit of everything and the staff quickly takes the empty plates away. The spa is open for both guests and the public and it's crowded at the weekends. It was different swimming pools e.g open-end,cold,warm. None of those for actual swimming, just for relaxing. In the middle of the spa in the pool area there a small kiosk that people can buy snacks and alcohol. The saunas are in the changing rooms so separated by gender.

Would I recommended to anyone? Well if you don't care about your surroundings, quality of food, your health and noises, Spa hotel Scandic Aulanko is the best place to exchange germs...

Disappointing Stay Despite Good Location – Needs Immediate Improvements

We stayed at Scandic Aulanko during the Wanaja Festival and had high expectations for our visit, especially given that we had booked a Superior room with a sauna (room 401). Unfortunately, the experience was below expectations in several key areas.

Firstly, the shower in our room only provided cold or barely warm water. Hotel maintenance did come to inspect the issue and acknowledged the problem, stating they would try to get a plumber. However, the issue was never resolved, and we were not updated at any point. At check-out, the matter was simply apologized for, but no gesture of goodwill or compensation was offered – which felt dismissive considering the inconvenience.

The room itself was dated and lacked air conditioning, which was surprising for a Superior category room. Luckily, the weather was not too hot during our stay, but this could have been a major issue during warmer days.

Secondly, the breakfast experience was unpleasant due to small birds (sparrows) flying freely inside the restaurant, landing on tables, eating food from the buffet, and even defecating on furniture. Several guests pointed this out to the staff, but they seemed unaware of the hygiene concerns this posed. This is clearly not a one-time issue, as the birds appeared to be very familiar with the space.

We appreciate that the hotel is in a scenic location and has potential, but our experience suggests that both maintenance and hygiene standards require serious attention. With proper follow-up and proactive service recovery, the stay could have been salvaged – but as it stands, we left...
