Hawkhill Cottage Resort — Hotel in Helsinki sub-region

We rented Villa Armas for a week in the beginning of September 2022, and even though I had my doubts about a week in a Finnish forest suiting us (we tend to do more city trips), we had an absolute blast! The cottages are well spaced, you don't really see the other guests, you may hear the occasional splash into the lake when they go for a swim, but other than that you are perfectly surrounded by silence. Armas was well equipped, simple, but it had absolutely everything you need. Excellent beds, sauna, open fire, BBQ in front of the deck, even a rowing boat and fishing rods! Finnish design (Iittala, Finlayson, Lapuan Kankurit, if I'm not mistaken) was represented in the kitchen as well as the linen. There was enough wood and charcoal for much more cooking on the barbie/heating the sauna than we needed during one week. Annu came to see us when we had arrived and explained the most important things - the rest was pretty much self explanatory. And there's also a comprehensive folder with a lot of information - practical about the cottage as well as general about the surrounding nature and places to visit. ||The lake views are spectacular and so is the stillness. It is really a hidden gem in the middle of the forest!!||I warmly recommend Hawkhill to anyone looking to recharge their batteries or just simply go hiking/swimming/rowing/sup boarding etc! If you are visiting outside Finland, it's very easy to access from the airport (it's very useful to rent a car from the airport for grocery shopping, visiting Helsinki etc) and very easy and fast communication...

This was our third time here- my husband came for a Christmas party a few years ago, we came (just the 2 of us) in January 2022 when there was a lot of snow and ice, and then we had family over from Ireland in July this year and we took them so they could have a really Finnish summer experience. We stayed in Villa Taavetti and it was just perfect- super clean and comfortable. I loved all the Finnish textiles and products in the cottage- the Lumi Ruska body wash in particular was raved about and we are going to send some home to Ireland! The kitchen was fully equipped with everything that you would need in terms of cutlery and crockery, and there was even an electric whisk which my mum was delighted about so she could have whipped cream for her Finnish strawberries! We used the sauna every evening and then had a dip in the lake and it was just sublime- my brother in particular said he has never felt so relaxed. The best place to unwind with all modern comfort! Villa Anna was our second Hawkhill experience and it did not let us down a bit! Our first stay was at Villa Armas with the wood fire sauna, but honestly we are very glad we booked Villa Anna for this holiday. One week went past so quickly in the absolute peace and quiet ! Villa Anna has all modern commodities, the check-in was flawless and so was the check-out. Villa Anna is in an excellent state and well kept, it is also more spacious than Villa Armas. Everything has been well thought out in the villa. I would warmly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to enjoy Finnish nature combined with a luxury summer house.
