Hanaholmen is nothing short of a jewel — a place where elegance, serenity, and excellence meet in perfect harmony. From the moment you arrive, you are embraced by an atmosphere of warmth and tranquility. The reception team sets the tone immediately: attentive, genuinely kind, and discreetly efficient. Their ability to anticipate needs without intruding is remarkable, and it creates a sense of calm that stays with you throughout your visit.
The dining experience deserves a standing ovation. The master chef here is a true artist, transforming local, fresh ingredients into plates that are not only delicious but also deeply inspiring. Each dish is a balance of textures, flavors, and colors — carefully crafted to nourish both body and soul. What is striking is the creativity behind every bite, where tradition meets modern finesse, and each plate tells a story. The salad bar alone feels like a journey through the fields and gardens of Finland, vibrant, wholesome, and bursting with life.
What makes Hanaholmen extraordinary, however, is not just the food or the location — though the lakeside views framed by tall, whispering pines are breathtaking — it is the people. The staff exude quiet professionalism, moving like a perfectly tuned orchestra. They are present but never imposing, creating a rhythm of service that is seamless and soothing. You feel cared for in every sense, as though you are the only guest that matters.
And then, there is the setting. To gaze out at the serene waters, watching the evening light play through the trees, is to feel time slow down. It is a rare gift in our fast-paced world to encounter such peace, where nature and architecture blend in harmony, and every detail feels intentional.
In short, Hanaholmen is not just a place to stay or dine — it is an experience that elevates the spirit. The combination of flawless service, culinary brilliance, and natural beauty makes it a destination in itself. Outstanding does not even begin to describe it; Hanaholmen is...
Read moreUnique location, just outside the center of Helsinki, at the edge of a small peninsula that juts out into a maze of water and forested islands, this hotel manages to balance tranquility, with gastronomy, architecture and nature. I’ve stayed in many many hotels, but nothing like this - it may have been one of the best allround experiences ever.
The building is well-preserved 70s architecture; long lines, oak wood and brushed concrete slabs. Rooms are spacious and bright and were updated quite recently. Bathrooms are clean and well-organized; excellent water pressure. Spotless maintenance. Service is professional and kind; open to requests and suggestions. There’s a decently-sized indoor pool, suitable for those wanting to get some laps in at the start of the day. A pier juts out into the water, allowing a courtside seat for summery sunsets. I didn’t use the sauna but, hey, this is Finland, I’m sure it will be on par. They host weddings in a dedicated space next to the restaurant, but the layout is such that there is actually no noise coming from that at all.
Parking is amply available and there are convenient connections to public transport nearby (public bikes for 10 euros per week and a subway station at 10 minutes walking. Time to central Helsinki is probably 20-25 mins.
The natural surroundings are unforgettable; spruces dot the coastline, mossy big boulders here and there, as if dropped by giants. Terns and cormorants patrolling the shallows. If your aim is to relax with quiet and lovely views, come here.
Lastly the food: the hotel harbours a professional restaurant, Plats, which serves a buffet breakfast featuring hot and cold options, various juices and a large terrace. They also offer very good dining in the late afternoon and evenings; properly delicious local menu options, combined with super friendly service. For those seeking gluten-free, this restaurant has no issues with that at all. After mentioning it once, they remembered every morning of...
Read moreThis place is remarkable. I don’t know where to begin with this review so I’ll go experience by experience.||Rooms: I had one with my mother and then one with my husband on two different nights. Both rooms were clean, climate controlled, had windows available to open, and were generally comfortable. The bathrooms were good size. Of note, the room we had on the second night had a bathtub which did not have good bars to hold on to when getting out. With older visitors this may be a problem. The shades were mostly total darkening which was important for the endless light of June. The pillows and linens were soft and the bed comfortable generally. There was space to put and open luggage. The room with two twin beds had more space to do that than the room with one larger bed. Outlets were plentiful and there were USB outlets.||Parking is free and there are lots of spots. The breakfast was outstanding- best we had in Finland. Staff is helpful and friendly. The saunas are unisex and don’t allow bathing suits. If you’re not familiar with sauna culture ask someone to brief you before using. The pool is a smaller lap pool with a gorgeous view.||The grounds are stunning! There are lots of places to sit outside and enjoy the views of water. There’s a place to swim. There are sculptures to explore. Being so close to Helsinki this is a true treat to get away from a concrete jungle. I can’t...
