Unbelievable gem of a hotel not too far outside of Helsinki central! Excellent value for the money. All of my pictures were taken just outside of our room which was almost on the beach behind the hotel. As you can see the view is marvelous. Hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. Amenities we enjoyed were the free bikes, free access to the gym/health club across the street, free parking and breakfast buffet included in our room rate. The quality of the breakfast food was excellent with a great variety. For those (like us) who are interested in items available on the buffet, here's what I remember..... Coffee, tea, apple and orange juice, donuts, cookies, fresh fruit, various kids and adult cereals and milk, various breads/rolls, butter and fruit spreads, yogurt, mixed berries, raisins, mixed nuts, oatmeal, mild munster-style sliced cheese, ham, turkey, bacon, Karelian pies/pastry (Finnish thin rye crust with a filling of rice porridge, often mixed with chopped-up boiled egg (egg butter or munavoi as it's called) and I did see some of this egg salad style mixture on the bar at times, and I liked it! which is spread over the hot pasties before eating), roasted tomato, liverwurst, scrambled eggs (but these were not like any scrambled I've ever had before... They were soft and creamy. Tasted less like egg and more like the center of a very soft quiche. I enjoyed it! I'm probably missing a few things but you get the picture... Needless to say, you can't walk away from this particular breakfast buffet unsatisfied unless you are the type that can never be pleased! The room was very clean and sufficient in size. There were 3 of us so an extra bed was brought in. An interesting phenomenon was a designated single room down the hall, designated for an ironing board and steam iron. The iron was seriously heavy duty, tons of steam horizontal or vertical and made the job easy. My only complain is that there isn't an iron and board in the room... We also stayed at a holiday Inn downtown Helsinki and each room had a board and iron. Never the less the Rantapuisto was the superior of the two. (pet peeve to Europe in general... Why oh why do you insist on attaching that ridiculous and annoying and non-removable metal iron holder thing on the square end of the board?!?! I prefer to use that side of the board when ironing and I NEVER put the iron on that thing anyway.... Cmon! OK rant over.... (But in the USA every hotel room comes with a full sized steam iron and full sized ironing board without any attachments on the board... So that's the perspective I come from) OK SORRY - MY RANT IS REALLY NOW OVER
All in all Hotel Rantapuisto (ranta = beach, puisto = park) is a gem. And you should stay here if you can get a reservation!
Please give me a thumbs up "like" for this...
Read moreA splendid original art deco hotel right next to the beach and Forest in a residential area with delicious food, indoor and beachside sauna and gym. Very accessible to a range of outdoor sports, a life guarded sandy beach, a local lovely cafe, and just outside of Helsinki linked with a coastal path. ||We had a superb few nights here and wished we could have stayed longer. We needed two rooms as we had our 20 year old son with us, after us all running in Jukola so booked the apartment for a bit of R&R before flying back to the UK. To be honest the apartment was a little tired in terms of decoration, with the walls having small chips out of them and needing to be repainted for example, but this was represented by the cheaper price. The bathroom was small but shower great, with plenty of towels and good sustainable shower gel and shampoo. ||The apartment has plenty of space and storage and a fully equipped kitchen which would be perfect for a family with young children and or with dog. The air con in the main room worked for the whole apartment ( we had some hot days ) and most importantly, the beds were incredibly comfortable. All beds were single which can be pushed together to make a double. Perfect. ||I didn’t see the regular rooms, but after seeing the main hotel with its fantastic original art deco design and furniture would love to. Maybe next year, but we will bring our dog next year. ||Breakfast was a good range of local, traditional and international wholesome food and drinks. My husband particularly liked the waffle maker!! ||The restaurant was closed the evening we arrived as it was Sunday so we were directed to a local pizzeria.||Dinner at the hotel was delicious and we all had the minute steak which was very tasty and then a range of really good rhubarb and sorbet desserts. It was brought quickly to our table overlooking the beach through the trees and the young man serving answered all our questions about the interesting history and design of the hotel. ||This hotel is a really interesting find. It has the feeling and look of a top class modern hotel, but it’s all original and without the silly prices! ||The hotel sits in amongst the natural forest next to the beach with its own beach, sea access, sauna and pontoon to bathe in. It’s also just a short walk along to a life guarded sandy beach perfect for children with a fab little cafe/restaurant next door. ||We hope to visit again next year to experience the sauna, spend longer and explore the area and maybe even cycle the coastal road to Helsinki. ||Many thanks for a...

The architecture is spectacular and the hotel offered sauna, gym and breakfast.||We booked the Nolla Cabin, which also included a hotelroom at the Hotel.||The prime guest seaview room had a Merimekko theme- and that (apart from the stunning architecture and breakfast) was the only plus with the hotel.|Its so unfortuned that this beautiful hotel is such in a bad condition. A proper facelift (outside and inside) would give justice to this beautiful funkkis-style hotel which screams Finninsh architecture and design. The Breakfast was really nice and the staff helpful and nice as well.||Our room had a seaview which was beautiful, if you would look a bit down at the reck of the balcony you could see mold and fungus growing on the reck. Our primeroom was in desperate need of a facelift, especially the bathroom.|The carpetfloor in the corridor smelled and had old stains on it. |The hotel is animalfriendly, which means you can have pets with you.
