I had an amazing stay here! We arrived there later than the usual time for checking in, but the staff was flexible about it, so we could still check in smoothly. I absolutely love the rooms. They are really cozy, the beds are comfortable; I especially loved the wide selection of different pillows. The bathroom is nice and the hotel overall really feels like home. The mobile AC was absolutely amazing, I really appreciated it! The breakfast buffet was amazing. There was just enough options, and the food was good. Typical finnish breakfast. The location is really practical. The hotel isn't located in the center of Nykarleby, so it's a very calm area for a hotel. Still, it's not a long way to the center of Nykarleby. The service is good. The staff is very friendly and flexible regarding the check-ins. Only draw back is that they're not always available at the hotel.

Süßes kleines Hotel mit kleinem See und Restaurant. Absolute Empfehlung: das Buffet am Mittag für kleines Geld. Alle super freundlich und unkompliziert. Schlüssel konnte bei später Anreise eingesammelt werden... Top!

If you are travelling between Pietarsaari/Jakobstad and Vaasa there is one stopover possibility that doesn't require too much extra driving.||The tiny Swedish-speaking town of Uusikaarlepyy/Nykarleby features some picturesque settings, a not-so-charming modern centre and the hotel Juthbacka with 16 rooms on the grounds of a former manor.||The hotel is slightly run-down and will require a thorough renovation in a year or two.||During high season in summer they serve breakfast in a restaurant in the same building complex. It is usually good with real scrambled eggs, not the plastic product you'll get in bigger chained-brand hotels.||If you arrive in winter and guests are few you will have to make your own breakfast in a guest kitchen. There will be bread in a basket, cereals in tins and processed ham, cheese slices, some fresh veggies, yoghurt, and juice ready for you in the fridge.||So please make your sandwiches, use the coffee maker and remember to clean up afterwards. You will get something to start your day, but nothing to write home about.||The guest kitchen is useful if you arrive in winter, because there is no evening restaurant in the hotel, only in summer. ||During lunch hours on workdays the hotel restaurant serves a popular, delicious and hearty lunch. But in the evening, you have to plan ahead and think of your accomodation as a hostel.||Downtown 1 km away is a small grocery store that is open until 11 p.m. Buy your stuff there (or go for the two bigger supermarkets outside the town centre 2.5 km from the hotel) and use the guest kitchen, which is very good equipped.||The other option is to walk downtown and visit the greasy spoon pub, the kebab-pizza place or the friendly American-style hamburger joint Cindy's Diner with much better stuff than any McDonald's or Burger King.||During a visit in December, the hotel charged 75 euros for a double room, booked directly. That is somewhat too much compared to what you get.||The same room for two persons cost only 60 euros on a booking site. When confronted with this fact, the receptionist claimed that "the price on the booking site is wrong" (!).||After some discussion, the hotel agreed to charge the lower price posted on the booking site.||A more serious mistake was that the linens for one bed was missing.||There is no one in the reception at night and if you arrive late they will tell you where to find the key. Nasty surprise if you arrive late at night after a long day driving, have a shower and discover that there are no linens in one of the beds.||There is a cell phone number to call if something goes wrong, but it will take some time before the staff arrives at night and our company wanted to have some sleep immediately.||So one person slept with duvets and pillows without linens. Not nice and no excuses from the reception the following day, only a "Really?". A small reduction of the room price was offered.||C'mon, you can do better!||If you just need a place to sleep in peaceful small town surroundings, the Juthbacka hotel is perfectly ok, but be careful with the details and note that the hotel doesn't have much competition.||A big plus is that six of the 16 rooms are equipped with a bathroom suitable for disabled persons, according to the management. These bathrooms are big enough for a manual wheelchair to enter, but note that there are no shower chairs. They might bring you a chair from the restaurant's outdoor seating.||One weekend in August each year the hotel grounds will become Finland's biggest flea market working 24 hours and bringing some 30,000 visitors to this town of 7,500 residents.||Be sure to book your hotel room in time if you are planning to...

We stayed 2 nights, no bad word. Arrived late, key was right there where we was told, room and hotel was clean, alltough there was some construction work going on, didnt bother us. Beds, shower, all good. Would prefer extra pillow covers with the extra pillows but.. |We slept well, and can tell the guy next door slept well also, we heard him snoring very well both nights. :D |Breakfast was also fine, basic, no bad word from that section either.|Overall, def would come back, like the title says, ...
