This is not the usual place for staying over -- it should be taken as part of the travel experience! It is very close to Mt. Koli National Park and a car is necessary to bring you to this place.||||My fiancee and I stay in the cottage for two people for one night and we absolutely love the experience. Very romantic. There is no bedroom and shower in that cottage, but the covertible sofa can fit two people (unless you are big!) and is quite comfortable, and you need to bring your own bedding sheet (although it is available for renting). Also you need to clean the place at check-out to avoid additional cost. If you are used to stay in general hotels then this may not be for you.||||The cottage is very nice and unique, with its own traditional sauna (we stay in other cottages during our journey and I would say there is nothing like this!) and it is a good place to practice your fire-making techniques! We came from southern states and weren't able to do it after some attempts. The owner was quite Finn-style and just came and help us out without a second word. The only thing that make us a bit nervous is that there is a window facing the parking lot in the sauna room. Although the place is very quiet (we didn't see anyone other than the owners) and the steams will soon blur the window, it does make us feel a bit uneasy.||||To conclude, fantastic place, too bad that we just stay for...
Read moreVisited as a family with 2 kids (7 and 10 year old) and 3 dogs for 2 days with a caravan. Cosy little camping place next to a lake. The hosts were great and gave good tips for visiting Koli and other places. Free sauna every night was good. Clean and in good condition. Small beach and the water was not too deep, so it was very good for children as well as adults. There is only a small amount of built playing infrastructure for children (swing, dartboard) but this did not bother our children at all, they were happy with these and swimming in the lake. Also many outdoor games were available for loan for free. If you like peace and nature, this place is for you. There is a lot of grassland spots for tents and caravans, however, as we visited during high season (Midsommer) those places were already occupied and only more gravel/grass spots were left so that is why I cannot give 5 stars but "only" 4. I can recommend this place and will stay here again when we return to...
Read moreHills of Koli are exceptional. In summer there are lakes and forests to explore. During the winter you can downhill ski in the nearby skiing resort, or use one of the tracks for cross country skiing, or snowshoe one of the many hiking trails. Koli Freetime is strategically located not far from the 6th highway so that you are free to go exploring the area, but far enough to be a very peaceful and quiet place. Facilities are perfectly maintained even in the winter, but during summer I imagine the lakeside campsite should be a paradise of comfort. But the best in Koli Freetime is its welcoming hosts: Harri and Nina. We've been provided with exceptional service and tremendous help in a difficult situation. I would certainly recommend the place and would return...
