Laahtasen Leirintä ja Lomakylä — Hotel in Kajaani sub-region

Stayed in a cottage for 32 EUR (from Agoda; normally 40) vs 30 EUR for campervan - the small price difference made it worth trying cottage (apparently this is typical Finnish pricing style). The cottage was lovely and well-equipped with dry kitchen including fridge, microwave, kettle, cutlery. The location is stunning. Quiet forest setting directly in front of the lake with good amount of pine trees. The main drawback is the maintenance building is quite far up the hill. Each gender has one toilet and one shower, which would normally be limiting, but visitor numbers were low even in August so it wasn't problematic. There's also a latrine right by the cottage though I didn't use it.

Unfortunately I had bad luck with the facilities. Shower pressure was inconsistent and the toilet wouldn't flush properly, requiring use...

Beautiful little campsite right by the lake. Recommend paying the extra for the private sauna. It is quite literally the best and hottest sauna we've ever used. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and all the facilities are clean and well kept. Perfect for people like us who prefer a nice quiet place away...
