Kuusamon Keidas - Soivio — Hotel in Koillismaa sub-region

We booked the room for 2 nights as we had already booked to move on further north but really wish we could have stayed longer. This is a bit off the beaten track (approx 40 mins from Kuusamo airport) but worth it. The hosts were amazing and really helpful and couldnt do enough for us. The room was clean and there was also a shared kitchen with everything you needed. |Its in a beautiful setting right by the lake and beautiful with all the snow. We went sledging and kicksledding and the scenary around is stunning. I am sure it is just as lovely in summer too.|There was a large sauna right by the frozen lake and we took advantage of that and it was a great end to the day especially when we'd been out in the snow all day. |Theres a reindeer farm at the end of the road and we got to see an feed them. We didn't eat at the Kuusamon Keidas as we had brought our own food but breakfast and meals are served there at an extra cost and i didnt hear any complaints from other guests. Rooms were cosy, not fancy but decent at that price. It's not a hotel so expect hostel ike rooms. The place itself was quiet and beautiful with reindeers roaming just outside the facilities, and a lakeside sauna. ||The owners were more than helpful and nice, made breakfast just for us, gave us great tips and ideas about what to see and do, and made sure to warm up the sauna whenever we wanted. Forget the cliché about quiet finns, the hosts were super chatty but never imposed. ||They made us feel like we were visiting their home. Definitely...
