We took the risk of staying at this new hotel and it certainly paid off! I have split my review into accommodation, skiing and excursions.

With the hotel being new, there weren’t many reviews on here and we were delighted when we arrived. We stayed in a room with a sauna and jacuzzi on the balcony. The rooms were up to date, with TV’s, an oven, microwave and hob. The beds were very comfy and everything felt brand new. Out of the room, the breakfast was great. A range of fruits and cakes; hot food; fresh bread and waffles each morning. The location of the apartments could not be better. It is the only hotel on the Ruka Valley side but this is where most the ski lifts are. You can hop on the gondola (open until 7pm) to get to ruka village/ or get a taxi (only 5 minutes) where more restaurants and bars are. The manager (Jussi) was a great help when we had a slight issue and he did everything to help. We ski regularly and this has to be one of the best accommodations we have stayed in.

The skiing is great. If you are used to the Alps it will be completely different. The snow is soft and lots of it! We completed all the runs and came across no ice! The runs are lovely, picturesque and empty. It doesn’t take long to get down to the bottom but it doesn’t take long to get back up!! The queues are small with lots of lifts. On NYE it was slightly busier with a few locals, but it was manageable. The slopes are all lit up and open from 9:30am - 7pm (on Friday they open until 11pm). It is cold, but as the hotel is ski in/out you can go inside to warm up before heading back out! There is something for everyone on the slopes. The red/blacks are challenging enough with a snow park fit for anyone who wants a real challenge! The blues are lovely for new skiers (and a ski school as well). Overall, the skiing is fantastic and a great experience.

Finally, we went on a couple of excursions (Santa’s grotto, snowmobiling, husky ride and Reindeer Farm). There are many more available and the Crystal Ski reps were really helpful as to which ones to pick. If you are tempted to visit Ruka, I would certainly recommend it -...

Very nice stay, apartment was lovely, modern and clean.||We had our own sauna which my husband appreciated, I’m more of a steam room fan.||We stayed here with the Canterbury package which was magical but sooo tiring, we would defiantly come back but for longer and sort our own activities so it’s not so full on. The picture iv added of my son falling asleep awkwardly in a chair awaiting his husky ride about sums it up 😂||I can’t even describe the feeling of staying here, walking up to mountains of snow and being on a ski resort, the restaurant cabin had gorgeous food, you did struggle for a table at times though, the breakfast inside the resort itself (you eat elsewhere for breakfast) there were plenty of tables and the selection of food was vast, I loved the porridge.||It was nice having all their traditional food which were tasty, filling and warm which is what you need and crave with all the snow.||The apartment was a great home from home, you need to drink the tap water, the best ever and so cold! The apartment had everything you needed and our boys lived the high rise bunk bed that easily sleeped 2 children, the tv was a disappoint, I think there was only one English Channel but fortunately the wifi was good.||Also we didn’t find out until we left on the coach home that from that hotel you could get a ski lift right into Ruka village! We were gutted we missed this so would defiantly do it next time! ||Don’t hesitate about booking here, great location, rooms and food,...

We had a brilliant stay at the Ruka Valley Apartments with Crystal Holidays! We stayed in a family studio which was an ideal size for a family of 4 and had everything we needed for our self catering holiday. We loved being so close to the slopes and having our own ski locker outside the door. We also found the drying cabinet really handy too. The accommodation is finished to a really lovely standard, the beds were very comfy and we loved having our own sauna to warm up after a long days skiing! The staff were very friendly and helped us book taxis for our trip to Lammintupa Winter Village where we did husky sledging and snow mobiles for the children. Ruka Valley was much quieter than the village side which we really liked but it's easy enough to hop on the Gondola to visit Ruka Village where there are lots more bars and restaurants and a bigger grocery shop. There is a shop on the valley side which stocked most things you would need but there was a little more choice in the village shop. Ruka Valley is ideal for families and beginners as it is located by the nursery slope and the family park. We had two lovely meals in the Camp Kitchen and Bar which is within the same building. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious! We fell in love with Ruka Valley and would love to return again soon for another amazing holiday in a...

Brand new place when visited(2020). Nice looking interior design and 10m away from the lift! Good amount of space for two people. After sauna it is nice to go to the balcony and see the slopes. There is locked space for all the gear. There is small kitchen space but not kitchen stove. Small fridge is very good to have some drinks and food. Downstairs restaurant has good breakfast. Sauna has some strange design details like a big window to the living room. The sauna stove is too big for the small sauna. Can’t really keep it on all the time if you want to throw water. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Rooms were pristine, ski lifts 40m from the front door! Place to lock skis away, sauna in room! The food was amazing, genuinely next level and we are foodie people... Very unexpected for a tourist venue. The slopes were prepared overnight and we never queued at a lift for more than a minute. Best holiday ever!
