Can unfortunately not recommend this campsite. Heavily overpriced: paid 59€ for a tent with one person for two nights, which is almost double from what I’m used to from ~30 campsites all over Scandinavia. I wouldn’t mind if the campsite was superior, but it’s not at all. Way too few toilets and showers for this size (especially since also day guests from beach and marina use them as well), all the facilities are very old and urgently need renovation plus they are not very clean and all the hand soaps & paper towels were empty, nobody cares about silence at night (e.g., yelling & running kids at 11:30pm), no kitchen, and the tent area is full with poo from swans. Yes, it’s animals that don’t care about human rules, but either you put a fence around the tent area, or you don’t rent this area out to campers. It was almost impossible to find a tent-sized spot without poo, and especially with this price that’s unacceptable. Lawn mowing starts shortly after 7am in the morning, so you don’t even need an alarm clock...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at Camping Messilä, the camping has great facilities, and is located near Lahti and next to the lake Vesijarvi. It also has a nice beach with volleyball fields and a jumping cushion park. Also the beach has a water park and rental for canoe, Jetski, water hover board and other things. The camping’s sanitary facilities were exquisite, the showers were hot and free, and the camping was also equipped with a free sauna. The camping was also equipped with a washing machine and a dryer. The camping has a bar and a shop, the bar is open every night and there is dancing and singing.
The beach gets cleaned every morning by the staff and the camping is well taken care of by a large amount of staff members.
The plots were very spacious and every plot was wired in with electricity. The trekkers field was on an old midget golf field next to the water, which was also beautiful.
The staff at the counter were really nice and helpful. We were also allowed to choose...
Read moreNot recommended for tent camping. Tent camping area is located on an old mini golf course with a soccer field in the middle. The place was already very crowded when we checked in and there was no flat area available. We asked if dogs can swim somewhere as the public beach does not allow them. We got told to take the dog behind the mini golf course in the forest - which is full of trash and the access to the water is very steep - no beach at all. The forest area is used as a toilet apparently judging by the smells and the amount of toilet paper in the woods. Official toilets are just in the main building in the other side of the campground and are also used by guests of the public beach. The cleanliness therefore has a lot of room for improvement. 2 stars because of location and I believe for families with kids in an own camper this might be great - there is a massive play area for kids...
