Finlandia Hotel Airport Oulu — Hotel in Oulu sub-region

I was here as part of booked tour to the area, so had no part in selection. The hotel has wonderful surroundings, near a wetland, trail, excellent for birding. The staff were great and food very good. Room was spacious enough and had heated towel rack, not that is was needed, but great to dry clothes on. Rooms were also quiet, could not hear neighbors. But, there was a “heat” wave of temperatures in the 70’s, which doesn’t seem high, but the sun never really goes down. As a result the room never cooled off, as with a lot of countries, their facilities are not prepared for “heat”waves. Even after a rainy day, room was warm. While the rooms had small fans, it’s not enough, they should invest in larger fans for the rooms, and window coverings, that reduced heat into the room, that can also, reduce cold in the room. Hot temperatures around the world are here to stay and hospitality industry...

Surprising location in the middle of nature. Spent a good two hours in the Vihiluoto marsh behind the hotel watching a good variety of birds. The ruffs were a little far, but had seen them close-up the day before.|Had only an overnight stay with a tour that ended at midnight so did not get to eat dinner the hotel restaurant. The breakfast was great and staff helpful.|My main complaint is that to get from the reception area to my room I had to go through 5 heavy doors with lots of door handle touching- not too hygienic these days.
