Merilä Manor — Hotel in Oulunkaari sub-region

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a small group of wildlife photographers in this region. Comfortable and functional accommodation with plenty of hot water in en-suite showers and some basic kitchen facilities in the rooms. We did not use these but ate in the hotel which where the food was wholesome and plentiful home cooking: delicious. Wifi was free and fast and is accessed by switching on TV in room and then typing access code into one's own tablet/laptop. Staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. Merilän kartano is a great option for a night or longer. It is located only 50 km outside Oulu in a beautiful area by the river. We stayed just for the night on the way from the north to Helsinki, but the area has a variety of activities (skiing, hiking, fishing, sightseeing Oulu etc.).
