Mäntyluodon Hotelli — Hotel in Pori sub-region

We spent one night at this hotel and, whilst it is basically a functional and slightly old fashioned b&b hotel, we were made very welcome by the manager. She was very knowledgeable about the area and made excellent recommendations for local walks etc... The bedrooms and bathrooms are quite dated, as are the towels, but everything was very clean. A kettle was provided in the bedroom but only one teabag and one satchet of Nescafe, which was not generous, and no milk. However, on request milk was provided at once.||||Alcohol could be bought from the bar until 21.00 but there were no snacks or supper available apart from a panini. Breakfast was plentiful and well organised.||||There was no mention in the advertising that the port of Pori is immediately behind the hotel. It did not bother us as we had rooms on the rad side with a sea view. Had our rooms been overlooking the workings of the busy port it would not have been very scenic and with a window open would have been noisy.||||As I said, our hostess was delightful, and so we left feeling well...

Kaunis vanha rakennus meren läheisyydessä. Talon ulkonäkö ja tarina lupaa idylliä, mutta valitettavasti idylli ei ole yhtenäinen. Mitään varsinaista vikaa ei ole, huone on siisti, vastaanotto ystävällinen ja kaikki niiltä osin hyvin. Mutta, pienet asiat kuitenkin verottavat idyllin kokemista, esim. jälkeenpäin rakennettu kylpyhuone (80-luvun?) sinisine kaakeleineen poikkeaa tyyliltään täysin huoneen tyylistä. Sängyt ovat vanhat ja epämukavat, peitot ohuet ja elämää nähneet, pussilakanat kotoisen kukalliset. Sinällään siistit, mutta ei yhtään sitä idylliä, mitä upea vanha kiinteistö muuten mahdollistaisi. Toiselta puolen taloa ikkunat ovat merelle päin, mutta toisella puolen on ankeaa teollisuus/satama-aluetta. Juhlatilat alakerrassa näyttivät mukavilta, joten voipi toimia hyvin siinä tarkoituksessa, mutta nyt sesongin ulkopuolella ravintolapalveluita ei ollut avoinna. En suosittele kuuden euron jääkaappiaamiaista huoneeseen, itselle ei oikein valikoima osunut. Kannattaa tulla kaupan kautta ja tuoda ovat aamiaseväät mukana. Huoneessa on vedenkeitin ja jääkaappi, mutta ei mikroa eikä mitään keittiövälineitä...
