If you want to get away from it all, then this location is for you. The cottage is located deep in the forest with the nearest house being several miles away, and 8 miles from Rovaniemi city. A locked gate, you will have the key, ensures the forest area is not only secluded but very secure and quiet. Its distance into the forest means there are no passers by. You get a true sense of isolation and seclusion. ||The cottage is constructed entirely of wooden logs, and is very cosy and comfortable. All the amenities are great. Kitchen is fully equipped, microwave, coffee maker, fridge freezer, dishwasher. The house is warm and cosy and there is ample supply of firewood in the woodshed for as many cosy fires as you want. There is a small bathroom combined shower room with underfloor heating, and a small utility room with washing machine. A ladder/stair leads from the combined living/kitchen area to the loft where there are two single beds, a spare mattress and 2 chairs and a small table. The master bedroom is off the kitchen, with glorious views out through the trees and down towards the lake. The bed is comfortable and the room is very cosy. In the grounds there is a woodshed, a Hot-tub which comes at an extra cost and a sauna. I decided to use the hot tub and paid the extra. It takes a lot of maintenance to run the hot tub and sauna, so be warned, you will need to feed the fires at least every 20 minutes for several hours. Nothing quite beats being in hot water under the full moon when the outside temperature is minus 25 degrees celsius. ||||Practicalities - the location would be impossible to navigate without a car, in snowy conditions, Jouni, the owner will plough the tracks to the cottage. But, take extra care on the forest track, they can be slippery, but the drive is beautiful. Keys are collected from the owners address and he then guides you to the cottage. ||||Google maps will navigate you from the house to any location, but it will not navigate you back. My advice, take note of the turns you must take in the forest, and when returning use the Toramo Shooting Range, Rovaniemi as a point of reference in getting you back onto the unnamed tracks. ||||Visit a supermarket before heading to the cottage, you will need to take all your own food to the cottage. I used the Lidl and K Citymarket. Incredible place, surrounded by nature and...

Remote hideaway in a magical winter area almost all to yourselves. This cottage made our holiday to an otherwise industrial town of rovaniemi. As others say you need a car and do your food shop at prisma etc before you go. (Alcohol over 5% has to be bought from alko shops). Doubt food deliveries would be able to get to you. Theres a locked car barrier you need to unpadlock before the 10 mins almost private driveway to the dreamy cottage. ||Harkalampi was adequate for 4. Very chilled owner who escorted us there and then left us to it. The upstairs ‘bedroom’ space is sparse and huge so suitcases could go up there. Would like curtains in the upstairs mezzanine bedroom. We fashioned some. A floor plan would have revealed this was open plan to the rest of the house so whoever sleeps up there needs earplugs and able to manage small treads on a staircase you go down backwards. We had the fire on for coziness and it was roasting up there at night. Windows can open obviously. ||The kitchen has no dishwasher but really well appointed. Had fluids and sponges etc. Bathroom shower water was hard to control the flow and temperature, but wasn’t a problem. We mainly showered in the sauna space. ||Lots of moths in the house being in the woodlands it’s what to expect. Some sledges onsite to play with. We went down the roads and driveway as it was sooo quiet. ||Sauna and hot tub were excellent to have and then there’s no need to pay for other excursions to experience them. We saw wisps of northern lights across the frozen lake whilst steaming from the hot sauna at minus 5 in a swimsuit. Awesome!!! ||I loved this little home and would recommend it highly. It was exactly what you would hope for and made...

From the moment we booked until we left the cabin, the service and help we received was outstanding. When we pulled up to Harkalampi which is a 1 bedroomed cabin and mezzanine with fabulous amenities, we were in awe of the place. The bathroom was a large size with a great shower with a plenty of hot water and wonderful pressure, to the kitchen which was well stocked with utensils and basics you need if you want to self cater. The double bed were more than comfortable and our teen boys were comfortable in the mezzanine on put up beds. The location is indescribable. The tranquility, silence and overall beauty cannot be explained unless you have been here. Our friends also travelled with us and stayed at the Salmilampi which was just a 5 minute drive away from us in yet another beautiful secluded area of the forest. There was an outside hot tub that was wood fired and a sauna that was also outside and there was plenty wood for our use. We stayed here for 1 week and enjoyed it so much we have rebooked to go back next February. It was one of the best holidays we have ever been on and our teen boys aged 14 and 18 cannot wait to go back which is usually unheard of. The best part was the serenity and the sunrises the colours which we ranging from the most vivid blues to a magical orange. There is nothing that could have been done to make our stay any better. Join the host and owner is not only approachable with any questions or help that is needed, he goes out of his way to make your stay a memorable one. A car is needed as the cottage/lodge is approx 15 minute drive from the town of Rovaniemi which was more than suitable for us.You will not be...

We (2 couples) spent 7 nights at this picturesque cottage nestled next to a serene lake, providing a beautiful escape from light pollution. However, it's essential to note that without personal transportation, reliance on agency pickups can be highly inconvenient due to a gated entry approximately 3-4km away, requiring careful management of padlock keys and pickup instructions. During our stay, we participated in 7-10 activities spread across the week, yet nearly 50% of our pickups were delayed as drivers occasionally encountered navigation challenges. We were told by our pick up driver that resort owner requested driver notifications for pickups or drop-offs, which seemed unnecessary. The cottage had only bathroom. It came with heated bathroom floors, but the lack of ventilation is a massive drawback during winter. The open-concept kitchen caused smoke to spread throughout the house and upper floor accommodations for four, disrupting the ambiance during meal preparation. The washer, although functional, took about 2 hours for laundry without a dryer, necessitating the use of a heater for drying purposes. WiFi was decent and sufficient coverage. Amidst these inconveniences, the Finnish sauna was a delightful amenity, and the fully equipped kitchen added convenience. Moreover, the landlord was easily accessible and responsive, contributing positively to our overall experience.

One of the best stays we had as a tourist married couple! Jouni the owner was very polite and discreet. The cottage (Aimola) is a cute small place which is within the forest and remote which is exactly what we wanted. The scenery was magical and everything was covered in snow. Jouni (owner) had been clearing the path for us and our vehicle. Be aware that the cottage is remote and you would definitely need a car with a navigation system. The sauna was amazing, comes with unlimited usage and is easy to operate (instructions were given by Jouni and are available in a small instruction booklet in the cabin). The cabin has cutlery, crockery, two electrical stoves, and a small fridge-freezer. The cottage doesn't have a TV, but on the other hand it's better to appreciate the quietness and enjoy the nature and the time with your partner rather than wasting your time in front of a TV! Overall, we had a fantastic stay and hopefully we will visit again Rovaniemi and Aimola cottage!

Single room cabin, set at the end of a private road, about 10km from Rovaniemi city center. Walk 50m to the lake. Equipped with electricity, WiFi, small refrigerator, sink with insta hot water, 2 hotplate stovetop. Some of the best tasting water. There is a wood stove in the cabin, more for ambience as the cabin is equipped with electric radiator heat. Sleeps 2, has a hot tub, and sauna, both use wood for heating. A wood shed was well stocked with cut firewood for our use. Minor issue of no bathroom, toilet is small, heated facility next to the cabin. Best part for us was to walk outside at night in early January, and see the northern lights 2 days in a row. The second night the Northern lights were bright enough to see colors by eye. Need to eat most meals in town, or meal plan and get basic groceries as the setup and space is very limited for cooking. Most visitors will want to use the features and enjoy the area.
