Earlier this month I stayed at Myotatuuli near Somero in Finland.I enjoyed the whole experience! Olla, the proprietor is a fantastic woman, with much energy and is always going over and beyond that which is expected out of a bed and breakfast to make sure that one is enjoying themselves. ||||I stayed there for two days. The actual place is very calm and beautiful; a great place for walks and to just relax. The building is spacious and the layout is well thought out of to give a lot of space to relax, read a book and hang out with friends or family. The rooms are very well equipped and have very confy beds. I slept so well during my stay; a combination of good planning (shutters to block the midnight sun), confy beds and no sound whatsoever at night. ||||The breakfast was varied and very filling; which is great if you plan to go out and do many outdoorsy activities. ||||Iunderstand that Somero is many times a stop over place, or a destination for those who come to yearly dance festivals, however, it is definately a destination in it self. There are many outdoors activities that one can participate in. I went to a fabulous outdoors picnic ( kindly arranged by Olla) in the fjords; there are many small towns around; a national park (20 mins away) perfect for those who are into long walks or bird watching; and a space to partake in classic finnish activities such as going to the Sauna. I know that Olla also organizes various activiities; such as cooking classes, wellness weekends and so forth, so it is probably worth contacting to find out beforehand. ||||I would definately recommend Myotatuuli without hesitation; its a home...
Read moreI was lucky to participate in a theme getaway weekend at Myötätuuli in the beginning of the summer. The B&B had just opened in an area where there is really not much to choose from as far as accommodation is concerned. Myötätuuli was a school, then an old-people's home, but there was nothing institutional about it anymore. Olla, the owner, took much care of making it cosy and welcoming. The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was great and healthy (organic!) and the fact that the location was far from anything, was a blessing.||||Well, not too far - 10-15 minutes to the city and the internet was working, but it seemed like further away than it was, so peaceful it was! It does seem like the perfect spot for the other theme holidays they propose (silence retreats, foreign language learning, cooking lessons). ||||The rooms have peaceful colouring, handmade quilts, small tables (if you do want to use your laptop with the wireless, though there was a guest computer available also), even a rocking chair - where do you see those anymore! Lots of light but also block-out curtains. I went with my sisters, and our room had an ensuite bathroom. There was a sauna available and we enjoyed that after a walk in the country side. Food was included in our theme weekend, and the dinner was delicious. Slept very well - and do recommend this establishment...
Read moreI recently had the joy of staying at Myötätuuli for a quick 3 day trip, and although it was unfortunately very brief, I haven't felt so relaxed and rejuvenated in a very long time! It was THE perfect getaway from our busy and fast-paced life in London.. We had the chance to take in the breathtaking Finnish countryside, enjoy some wonderful organic food everyday (the breakfast especially was incredible), and enjoy the peaceful/cosy atmosphere. The owner, Olla, was incredible - she made us feel extremely welcomed to be there, and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed for a comfortable stay. I would strongly recommend asking Olla for tips on where to go for a walk in the coutryside - we followed her directions and ended up in a wonderful spot where we stayed for a picnic.|| At night, don't miss out on the Finnish sauna experience - I felt the stress disappearing and I slept like a baby after that! ||I would strongly recommend Myötätuuli to anyone, and in fact, we cannot wait to visit it again ourselves...
