It takes one hour by car from Mikkeli to Kuus-Hukkala. We decided to visit our friends at Kuus-Hukkala, who have warmly recommended the place. The area is within a reasonable distance from Highway 14. The end of the trip is a wide sandy road to lake Kolkonjärvi beach. ||There is space for caravans in the area and there are also quality cottages on the shore. For example, the cottages have a sauna. For meetings and evening entertainment there are conference rooms, a sauna world and a small heated swimming pool. There is also a barbecue area and a hut in the area. Hygiene supplies and small groceries can be purchased from the mini market.||For children there was a swing, sandbox, playhouse, trampoline and three pedal cars. As a new entertainment to the previous launch had become frisbeegolf.||For men and women, they had their own turn of the sauna. We did not go to sauna this time, but the saunas were cool and functional.||We had previously eaten lunch at Kuus-Hukkala on Mother's Day and it was delicious. This time we ate pizzas.||Alternatives to pizza filling were, for example, salmon and smoked vendace. The pizzas were delicious. The base was thin and crunchy. Tomato tasted delightfully freshly under the fillings. Pizzas cost a little under and a little over 10 euros depending on...
Read moreThe place is near the lake and it's a very quiet place. Staff is friendly. Good play area for the kids.
However there were few issues that made our stay quite unpleasant. The area of the cottages were full of grown grass and in summer there are millions of mosquitoes. With two kids with us it was a very unpleasant experience. Since it's summer the cottages get very hot but because of the mosquitoes we couldn't open the doors for ventilation. For the cottages we booked there is only a common stove available outside. The water was not working and water was only available from the toilet. There were no kitchen pans or spoons available. If it was mentioned before we would have brought them. The nearest shop is 25kms away. There were no bed sheets or pillow cases available. It was not mentioned that as well. Luckily we had some sheets. They asked for 10 euros per person per day for the sheets. We stayed for 5 days and 6 people. For me it's...
Read moreDecent overnight stop heading south. Stayed in cottage for 47 EUR vs 35 EUR for campervan, though surprisingly the cottage was much farther from the lakeside than campervan parking. The last 3 km is unpaved and the location is a bit confusing as it's different from google map, you need to watch the signs.
The cottage had basic amenities with fridge and microwave plus disposable cups, but no electric kettle or cutlery. You need to bring your own linen or pay rental fees. Simple service building nearby had maintenance issues - sink wasn't working and could use better upkeep.
Shower was functional but primitive with unstable pressure and temperature. No heating in the bathroom. There's complimentary sauna for about an hour in the evening, but it looked very crowded so we skipped it.
Overall an okay experience for one night but wouldn't strongly recommend. There were quite many mosquitoes though the...
