Karemajat Oy — Hotel in Torne Valley sub-region

We visited and stayed in one of the cabins in late March which is after the main Finnish winter holiday break period, so it was quiet - on one night we were the only guests in both the hotel and cabins, but this is what we expected at this time of year. The cabins are beautiful, warm and look out over a great views of the snowy hills as the whole resort is actually on a hill itself. The staff fell over themselves to make us welcome, firing up the sauna in an empty hotel for us, opening the kitchen to feed us when they were closed, organising cross country skiing equipment rental and much more. The town of Ylitornio itself (1 hour walk or 10 min drive) is very small and there wasn't a lot open or happening but there are supermarkets, an Alko (off-license), a few other shops, and a hotel/pub and a pizza place. The cottage was clean and cosy (Also hotel rooms available, but the triangle formed cottages are more fun). The loft was fun and surely a fun experience for children. The view was amazing! Also very cheap considering that cleaning of the cottage was included! The staff was friendly and helpful. Exceptional views. Visited August 1. For high season the place looked too quiet. Was planning to stay there but went on. Looks like renovations are needed. Outside entrance not very welcoming. Didn't rate the service because I didn't use it. Looked clean. Terraces empty on a bright sunny day. Laavu was definitely top! Marked trail outside the hotel (1km). Hiking trail up to the hotel missed a couple of signs! Maybe winter is...
