actually it's a wandering lawn-mower, that glides at random around the lawn of this top-class B & B, sometimes startling the waterfowl that have wandered away from the pond, or the partridges that drop in from time to time- while the three geese sail majestically on. Elizabeth and Jean Marie [ mon mari!] are exceptionaal hosts. They've enlarged the business since they started in 2002, three rooms now added in the converted barn, but we were in the main house in an excellent room, with Velux views over the lawns.||Everyone mentions those breakfasts! Baguettes delivered freshly each morning; cheese and salami for the North Europeans; home-made yoghurt honey and jams; cereals, and each day a different home-made speciality- fruit crumble; egg-custard; pancakes with maple syrup, madeleines and almond cakes. Read moreWe booked a stay for an overnight stop on our way to La Rochelle from Calais based on the reviews that we had read and agree with all the praise for this excellent place. The room that we used was quiet, spacious and comfortable with free wifi. The location is within easy reach of the autoroutes to Calais, Rouen and Amiens. We had enjoyed lunch in Wimereux en route to Scardon so did not need to go out for dinner but another couple staying went to a restaurant in the next village which they said was very good. Breakfast was phenomenal. We were offered cereals, fruit salad, home made yoghurt, four varieties of cheese and salami, bread, croissants, home made jams and a creme caramel (also home made) with a choice of tea or coffee. The only point to note is that they only accept cash to settle the account which in our case was €67 for two people...
Read moreWe stopped overnight twice during September whilst en route between Calais and Charente Maritime. The rooms are comfortable and very well equipped. The location is extremely peaceful and is within 10 minutes of the junction between the A16 and A28. A superb breakfast is included in the room rate which has home made preserves, cheese, yoghurt, and home baked items in addition to bread, cereals and tea or coffee. There are also facilities in a communal kitchen area if you want to use a microwave to heat up some food that you have brought for an evening meal. Madame Chivot speaks good english and is a perfect hostess. When we arrived after a 400 mile drive she immediately offered us a cup of tea or coffee. Highly...
