We were booked to stay for a week but have kept on extending because it is so lovely here. I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. IMMACULATE clean toilets and showers. There is a new block of toilets near the pool and an older block with showers which we personally find charming and full of character and always clean. A fantastic shower cubicle with plenty of hot water.. a tall shower and short shower ideal for helping children wash. I also noticed a large sink with a small shower head to wash babies and young toddlers. This kind of thing is so valuable to parents when camping. There is a lovely washing up area. Magnificent pool that my children are delighted with. There are seats and umbrellas for shade. It is beautiful swimming with the stunning mountains around us. The owners are warm and friendly and very witty. They often walk round late morning to say good morning and check everyone is ok. Cedric even learned my children’s names and greets them daily. They truly care about the campsite a great deal and are always around to help you. When their washing machine was broken they fixed it immediately. When we realised we were running late stuck in traffic, we rang them and they reserved a beautiful pitch for us and gave us the code so we could enter after hours. We were so grateful after an 8 hour drive with two children. They play lovely gentle music from the reception and have a little shop and can supply bread etc. There is sweet play area with swings and table tennis, a see-saw and table football. There is a stunning river to paddle in or relax by. This is a beautiful, shaded, quiet, gentle, no fuss campsite. There is a specific area for tents only, which feels secluded, private and peaceful. Close to Aix-En-Provence, the sweet area of Le Thelonet is down the road with a few bars and restaurants and it’s just 40 mins drive to many beaches and towns. It is a perfect base to see the area and soak up the charm. If you want loud discos and children entertainers this is not the place for you. But if you want a classic camping experience, back to basics, to spend quiet, quality time with your family and enjoy nature, this has everything you could want. An absolute gem. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
NB Bring your own toilet roll and soap. The ground is quite hard due to the glorious sunshine, so bring a good hammer for the pegs and hit them in at a sharp angle! For beaches good for children we recommend Saint Croix,...
Read moreThe perfect campsite to visit the old town of Aix-en-Provence. With a cheap, and frequent, bus service stopping right outside of the gate, it was no wonder that there were lots of motorhomes enjoying the relaxed Provencal countryside.||||The site itself is well established, with lots of shade and lots of facilities. Some of the services are a little dated, but there is some sign of improvement taking place. I’m not sure what amperage the hook-up system provides, but we tripped the switches at the first attempt and were careful after that about what we had switched on at any one time. ||||Being part of the ACSI scheme, the out-of-season prices are quite affordable, and the location is very convenient for those of us travelling east/west. We did have to use a map and override our GPS to get to the site the most straightforward way from the DN7 and avoid too many country lanes. With Mont St. Victoire in the background, the views from the campsite were spectacular, as were the Scops owls who entertained...
Read moreBooked a pitch for 3 nights having been recommended by the Municipal Camping facebook group. We weren't disappointed. Decent pitch, though largely on mud/grass so when the rain came down (middle of a storm) it got a bit waterlogged, but the next day, all dried up again :-) Lots of shady pitches, some sunny. New sanitary blocks are very clean - take own paper as per usual. The pool area is beautifully maintained and gets the sun all day into the evening. Can order bread/pastries the night before. The campsite has a bus stop to Aix-en-Provence right at the entrance and it's 1,60 each way into the city (35 mins). Lots of cyclists around but we couldn't find any cycle lanes specifically - country roads but still fairly busy with cars/buses heading into the city. They also sell basic provisions and serve coffee/breads in the morning, and beer/wine from the fridge. Family-run, friendly site. Would recommend and would stay again if we're back in the...
