The place is quiet and tucked back into the fields surrounding Cordes-sur-Ciel. If you aren't willing to drive into town from the Chateau this might not be the best place for you. However we found it was a short drive and did not mind it at all. Plus we had been staying at places in the center of various medieval towns and were relieved not to have to lug our luggage uphill through yet another cobblestone village to get to our room. You park right next to the Chateau. ||||The remoteness also allows you to leave your windows open. No tourist noise, fresh air, nice views for you at Chateau Labistoul. The host and her family are lovely and welcoming despite that they had a family celebration going on. We enjoyed meeting them all. They have done a nice job of renovating the place. We had the "superior" room and did not find it too dark (unlike another reviewer). We liked that it had windows and light where we needed it (reading area) and was darker where we sleep. Our hosts had wine (extra but reasonable), tea cakes, tea, etc. for us in our room. It was too cold to swim but the pool looked nice and it overlooks peaceful hills. The bathroom is quite large and our only complaint is maybe a US thing- it's hard to take a shower without getting the floor soaked because of the half glass thingy with no seal. They prepared one of the better more satisfying breakfasts for us (we miss protein for breakfast in France). ||||All in all this is a place that we wished we had stayed more than one night at. It was so...
Read moreWe stayed in the Gite which was great, I loved the Kitchen lovely old range cooker.||Great 1st floor terrace turn the lights off inside and out and the sky is amazing more stars than you can count..||Its an old building so windows are high and its a bit dark we are used to this as live in an old cottage. ||Spiral staircases one stone and one wood look great but you do need to be fit.||Bedrooms downstairs are brilliant in the high season cool at night we stayed in the attic great beams so have to watch out. Knack is to take a torch each or leave on bathroom light.||Only downside hence very good review is mattresses need updating bit lumpy.||Otherwise a great place to stay for older families and adult groups owners are lovely and will do anything to help.||Gave us an extra outdoor table and chairs outside ground floor and very open to suggestions.||We know the area all I can say is it a great place to stay for a while lots to see from Templar hide outs ( the Gite was one!) to Chateau's, Albi and Toulouse Latrec, the wine, fois gras, cheese, food in general. Lots to do from canoeing to bathing in the lakes, boating all kind, ballon rides, walks, bike rides. Cap Decouverte...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Chateau Labistoul, a beautiful old building in the countryside a few minutes drive from Cordes-sur-Ciel. we wished we could have stayed longer. We had the three room suite: very clean, spacious, comfortable bed, handy kitchen, personal terrace. Each evening we enjoyed sitting outside on the terrace with a glass of wine listening to the birds. So relaxing and peaceful! The swimming pool was greatly appreciated at the end of a hot day of touring. In the morning we were treated to a delicious and plentiful breakfast (the largest croissants I have every seen!). The host, Jacques, was delightful, and we enjoyed several fun and interesting chats with him. We are already planning our next trip to France, and we will be choosing a route that will allow us to again stay a few days at...
