We stayed here for six nights for a family ski trip. ||We were really impressed by the room, the view & proximity to the ski lifts. Staff are really friendly & some speak English sufficient to support you. ||The room is a duplex with two double rooms upstairs with one balcony. Downstairs there is a lounge & kitchen area with another, larger balcony. We can’t really fault the room. ||The swimming pool, jacuzzi & sauna are a great bonus but we only used them on a couple of days as they got really busy. ||There are various issues we found with the place. Prior to our trip we enquired with the establishment about ski hire who provided an email address of a large ski shop a hundred yards away. After two ignored emails & two unanswered phones calls, we had no success. They also didn’t have a website. While this isn’t the fault of the accommodation, they shouldn’t be recommending people or organisations who are useless. ||The ski room is perfect & located on your way out of the hotel. ||We arrived in the evening with no local shops open. At the very least, a nice gesture would be to ensure there was some bread & milk in your room for the next morning. ||We found it really difficult to eat of an evening with the two restaurants in the town fully booked for the week. Again, while not the fault of the accommodation, it would have been perhaps considerate of them to notify us that this is a common problem. ||You have to pay if you want any cleaning during your stay. We also had to buy our|own toilet roll after a few days. ||Parking is great but there is only electric charging on the ground floor, not the basement. Many of these spaces are filled by non-electric cars & vans which was incredibly annoying. ||They expect you to take all the rubbish out to external bins, clean the kitchen & empty the dishwasher prior to leaving. ||The cost to stay here is premium but the overall service doesn’t justify the cost which is a shame. ||We wouldn’t...
Read moreAll in all a bit hit and miss for us. Not sure if I will return in the future. The good: brand new appartment hotel (opened 23rd of December 2023) so we got the first user experience; it is well located at the foot of the slopes; there is underground parking with very large access ramps and spaces; I liked the design and the overall quality of materials; there is a pool; there is a well thought out ski locker and even a cellar for every appartment; there is very efficient floor heating that well surpassed our expectations; there are EV charging stations in the parking, the views are nice. The bad: crazy expensive for what is on offer, we paid upwards of 400 euro per night with no meal plan and only one (1!) roll of toilet paper for the whole week (ridiculous); during our stay there was no cleaning of common spaces, with a dirty carpet that only got worse; there had been no cleaning after the construction works, with cement dust everywhere, nails and screws to be found in the parking, coffee cups left in the parking without anyone cleaning it up; some construction work (finishing touches) left unfinished, most notably the front steps where the landing is occuppied by a frozen lump of construction debris; no check in until 5 PM but check out at the latest at 10 AM (why?); while there is a bread delivery service, the quality if below average for France; there is no access directly to the slopes, even though the building borders it - one needs to go through traffic (no sidewalk) in order to go around the building and onto the slope; lastly, there is a wine freezer that somehow ended up misaligned so that the door is not free to open fully and you can't squeeze any bottle in. All in all, the building is nice and nicely furnished but service lacks or is below expectations at this price point. You would be better off in most other places for less money and with more service....
Read moreGreat location at the foot of the Croix Fry ski slopes. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment for a weeks skiing. Our terrace overlooked the slopes so it was very handy for lunch. |The apartments were open at the end of December so everything was new. There is plenty of space for 4 people (think it would have been a but cramped for 6) with 1 ensuite bathroom, another bathroom and a separate toilet. |The décor was nice, beds were comfortable but it was bit warm during the night. |Each room has its own ski locker in the ski room - no more trying to find your skis and boots in the morning! However, it's not quite ski in ski out as you have to walk round the front of the residence to each the ski room, whilst the pistes are at the back. |The staff were friendly, although very little English was spoken. You can order bread and pastries from the local boulangerie each morning, but they aren't available until 8am each morning, which is quite late if you want to be on the slopes by 9am. |The wellness centre was lovely with a great swimming pool and spa area. It was a welcome treat after a day on the slopes. Our only complaint is the number of small children using the jacuzzi, steam room & sauna despite the area being for over 16's only. There seemed to be no enforcement of this by the hotel. |Another irritation was that the apartment wasn't available until 5pm on the day of check-in (something we were told is normal in France for such apartments). However, we arrived from the UK at 11am so it was a bit of a waste of a day. This is probably more of a complaint against the tour company rather than the hotel. |There are no supermarkets in Croix Fry so if you don't have a car you have to rely on the local ski bus (not very frequent). Plus the snow wasn't that great so the local resorts weren't linked, meaning again we had to rely on the ski buses. |Overall we enjoyed our...
