My husband and I were with another couple (my husband's sister and her husband) and were delighted to find this beautiful B&B open on the off-season. One of the rooms we had booked was out of commission due to work being performed on the shower, so we were offered a suite of rooms that included a wonderfully stocked kitchen. This came in handy as Sunday night, very few restaurants were open during the off-season. Brigitte and Gérard could not have been more welcoming and hospitable, and Gérard, a third-generation resident of this gorgeous tract of land and buildings, has cultivated beautiful, captivating gardens. There are several swimming pools on the property, all spring fed, though we weren't able to use then since it was pretty nippy in early March. Brigitte helped us get reservations at two marvelous restaurants nearby and tried valiantly for the third night, but we ended up eating chez nous, after picking up some delicious produce and a rotisserie chicken at the Apt farmer's market. When we realized we had forgotten to pick up any butter for cooking, Brigitte kindly gave us what we needed. The breakfasts were delicious, including fresh fruit, croissants and freshly baked bread with homemade jams and local honey, creamy yogurt, and Brigitte cooked us each a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg upon request each morning. Au Pied du Luberon felt like a home away from home, except one in an idyllic Shangri-La from a more pastoral time. The views were spectacular. We wished we could have stayed longer and...

There are vacations, there are trips and then there are moments, the ones that you dream of for years and years after. My husband and I both agree that of all of our trips, one place we are determined to return to with many moments to remember is our time outside of Bonnieux staying at Brigitte and Gerard's gorgeous piece of paradise. ||||We planned to spend 3 nights at the Pigionnier (sp?), but extended for 5 in total, skipping the riviera for more time in the Luberon. The days started eating fresh croissant and local honey on the patio. Brigitte would help us map out an adventure. Then we'd take off on bikes to local markets and hilltop towns. We loved the private, romantic garden where we could sit and paint or read while sipping rose in the hot afternoon. ||||It's truly heaven at Au pied du Luberon. Our friends and family ask how we ever found a place so hidden and special. Your time there is truly a gift....
